U Guys R always so 'up' on things but, just thought I'd put in a word on TWC's latest venture - digital music distribution starting mid-August. They sent me a note "Because your music is an integral part of "Local on the 8s" programming, IMI Music would like to distribute it via TheWeatherChannelMusic.com, which will launch mid-August. We look forward to working with you in maximizing your sales.'
So music will be available on their website for purchase (on a song by song basis), which is, I believe what you've been clamoring for. Of course, I'll need an attorney to review the terms of the agreement they've offered - to know whether or not I can participate without it hindering other sales efforts or deals which may come-up.
And this is a curious development considering their decision to remove 'Smooth Jazz' from the channel itself - I dunno - it's odd - but, it should make U guys happy at least.
All the best,

I haven't heard. And that's something TWC has needed for a very very long time now, especially for independent artists.

Found this by searching Google...

Sounds like it's mainly to promote recent music (especially songs featured on TWC's three CDs). I'll be sure to check it out when it goes live.
-
Actually the two people I spoke with at IMI encouraged me to use the site to put "whatever I wanted" on up. So it sounds like they're going beyond just the CD offerings.

This is interesting. Although it doesn't make sense putting twc songs for sales if they removed the jazz from the network

I got the email as well. I was pretty excited about this. I have a feeling it will do well. I was wondering whether they'll expand beyond what they play or whether they'll wind up playing what they list eventually. The press release was from May 21st so I am wondering why I just heard of it now. Anyway, you'll be able to grab all the artists.
-
I also am very pleased to see this. This is an easy way for people to find music featured on TWC all in one place. :)
-
So they're going to sell unavailable music TWC has used as well?
-
Well they'd only be able to sell the music if the artist gives permission. I am sure they've tried to contact everyone. They sent me the standard legal mumbo jumbo and it didn't look any different than anything else that I've read for digital distribution or the like.
-
Very cool. I don't have to search for TWC songs on iTunes and local music stores.
-
But is said music actually going to continue running on TWC?

What do you mean by that

I am so happy to hear this! It's way beyond about time they did this. They should've done something like this years ago. Kudos to TWC for finally getting something right. B)

Exactly! This is something small and easy they could have done a long time ago. Hope they start this soon! :D

Wait...so are they selling the music avaiable from TWC music artists or are they only selling the music from artists that have only been on TWC?
-
I've been checking out that website www.theweatherchannelmusic.com (http://www.theweatherchannelmusic.com). Not much there yet, not even their own CDs Smooth Jazz I and II. Hoping for more, it is a great idea.

I hope all of Jeanne Rick's TWC songs, especially from 2008 become available that site

I do too. I only recognize "Make it Work" as the only TWC song on their
