Thanks for the big welcome ya'll. Being from PGH,PA I was watching the Penguins win their game that will take them to the Stanley Cup Final. Thanks Victor for inviting me and recording the clips of my songs played on the local on the eights.
I am still hoping to get Song For John recorded. I don't even have cable but while I was on the road I listened everyday. I hope you all enjoy my music and I've sent more albums to Tony at TWC to see if he'll use a few more songs next month. Glad to be a part of this.
Thanks again,
Sincerely,
Robert or as most people know me as Bob

It's great to have you on the forums Robert! B) I can try and capture "Song For John" if you'd like. It plays during the overnight playlist, so it may be difficult for me to capture it.

Bob, is TWC planning to play more of your music in the next playlist?

Vic, I'm not sure. I talked with Tony and sent him another cd with classical music on it all arranged by me and mentioned that Pachelbel's Canon In D is very popular so I guess we'll wait and see. I actually didn't know they were going to play the songs that they are playing this month. There are several more good songs that I wrote that I know the public really likes and I hope they use some of them too. Scratch,Wishes,South Fork, Purple,The Adventure,Almost There,  and 9/11 are all favorites when I play out.

Cool. Hopefully they'll play more of your stuff. The piano is soothing. Deifinitely a welcome change from the usual jazz and saxophone stuff...

Hey Anthony, Not sure what you mean by time in for the song
The Time-In is the time of the song, that TWC plays. For example, if they started from the begining of the song, the Time-In of the song would be 00:00. The Time-Out is exactly 2 minutes after the Time-In (because the local forecast segments are generally 2 minutes long, with the exception of :18 and :48 after the hour).

I'm not sure the time in and I know they didn't start it at the beginning. I would have to listen and try to match it where they started playing.

Cd baby has 22 of my albums and yes Vic that is your clip that I put on there. I put Song For John, Days End and Run With The Wind all on their respective albums. Just go to www.cdbaby.com/all/gerestimusic  (http://www.cdbaby.com/all/gerestimusic) and they should have them all. I plan on putting a link on my website for this forum also.

That would be great however I won't be getting the link on my site for a couple of weeks but I am going to do it. I actually just did an interview on Trans Europe Express and they asked me how I got my music on the weather channel so the whole story will be in that article which I will post when it comes out. I did an interview 2 weeks ago on Midnight Jazz.

I listened to those two samples plus your James Bond medley's sample and they sounded great! I'd never have thought that the Goldfinger theme would have made for good piano music.

This question is for Robert.  I LOVE the song- SONG FOR JOHN!   Who is John? and what is the inspiration for this song?
Title: Re: Robert Geresti is here!
Post by: geresti on May 22, 2008, 10:51:43 AM
Song For John was written for John Denver and I was in Destin,Fl the day he died doing what he loved and I was doing what I loved(fishing) and I've always liked his music so when I got back to my condo that day I sat down and his song just came out.

Oh wait, Destin Days is on the primetime playlist. You wrote that song because it has a perspective of the days in Destin, FL right?

Yes, one day I had just returned back to my condo in Destin coming back from a performance that I flew out of town to do and when I looked out my window and saw the boats in the harbor and seagulls flying it felt good to get back to that and of course I had my keyboard with me so I sat down and Destin Days just came out.
