Cincinnati Bell Fioptics
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:25:20 PM »
I had Cincinnati Bell's fiber optic tv/internet/phone service (branded Fioptics) installed yesterday. Thought I'd post a video of their Intellistar installation.

They also offer TWC in HD in the 500s channels.

Awesome. :)

I noticed that a lot of IntelliSTARs on Fiber Optic cable feeds look like that on tuners.

Look at these videos from two different FiOS headends. I know he doesn't exactly have FiOS, but he does have Fiber-optic cable. If you look at the videos, they look a bit darker than any other IntelliSTAR video.

OK... i just assumed that was tuner related. I doubt it has anything to do with fiber optic cable companies

Thanks for this. :) I noticed this star uses the traffic flow narration (since there's no traffic map). The Time Warner Cincy star wasn't like that as of late 2008.

I was going to say the differences in brightness were probably caused by different tuners or settings, but I see the last two videos were both recorded by Zach.

I will say that the picture quality I've seen so far surpasses what I had with Dish Network (compression artifacts) and far surpasses Time Warner's analog (ch 2-75).

So Nick, I saw in another forum you got rid of Dish in early 2009. So you had no TV for a year? That must have sucked...

Not having cable/satellite wasn't that bad. I can receive all the over-the-air TV stations in the Cincinnati and Dayton markets. Better than back before cable when only about 5 channels would come in clearly here.

I get it on channel 23 (it was Weather Plus until July 1st). Not sure if it's the same channel number for cable ready.
