With my box, I'm now getting channels like GSN and PCN, but no Weatherscan. How come? It's available on basic here, so why can't I get it with my box when I can without it?
did you check all of the channels to see if it isn't on another channel when using a cablebox? Cable Ready and using a box can sometimes map the channels to a different channel... for example, FX on a Cable Ready tv here is on channel 96, whereas it's on channel 62 when tuned on a cable box.

Weatherscan is on channel 101 with a box according to the guide, and I get nothing when I view it.

It's probably on a higher tier. Comcast did that around here recently. It used to be if you had a box you could view it - now you need to subscribe to a certain tier to receive it.

But it's available here in analog basic (w/out a box), so it's odd how it wouldn't be on digital either.  :dunno:

We can only get WxScan in Atlantic City on a Digital 101 (with a box). It used to be on analog basic on CH85 but they moved it up to another tier.

Maybe in your area - but on the supersystem lineup (lineup for a large area), it's probably not available on basic and ONLY available on a digital tier.

That's probably why. My headend has its own channel lineup, where as in South Jersey they have one channel lineup for several headends.

it's on 101 for me also, not available on analog or ClearQAM (if it is, I don't know where)..

Same here, i wonder when they will ever wake up from their pipe dream to listen to their customers about the high demand for TWC HD  :furious:

My new cable box I have here, a Motorola, is a lot faster than my Scientific Atlanta in Marlton. The Motorola loads the guide within a second (my SA takes up to 5 seconds to load it), its graphics are more sharp, the text is easier to read, and there's more themes to choose from. The picture quality is also crystal clear because I had problems getting my cable box to work, so Comcast kept increasing our signal since I figured it was something wrong with the box. Turns out I had the cable plugged in to the wrong port on my TV. :P I also get OnDemand, Music Choice, and a few other digital channels that I never had on analog such as WeatherPlus and AccuWeather. I didn't think I'd get these channels too. My box is also a DVR, but I don't have DVR service.

I like this new box a lot better than my SA. The only downside is that I can't get my cable box remote to control the volume on the TV or turn the TV on or off (with the All On button or by pressing the TV button then power). I have to use my TV remote instead. With my SA, I can use the Comcast remote to control the volume. Any ideas?

You need to program the TV button on your STB remote. There are directions and codes on how to do that with the directions that came with the remote, or you can find them on Comcast's website.

Looks like the cable digital transition here will be starting very soon.

In the last bill, as of 4/1/09, customers cannot start a NEW service with Standard Cable (Basic+Expanded).

Does anyone here live in an area where Comcast has gone all-digital?  If so, do they pass the video on clear QAM signals?
