Comcast planning to buy Time Warner?
« on: August 17, 2009, 02:12:59 AM »
OMG!

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE57F1O920090816

Quote
"I am sure Brian Roberts and Steve Burke (COO) have Time Warner high on their computer screens."

Eisner added that he had "zero information" on such a deal but it was enough evidence for some investors.

As Collins Stewart analyst Thomas Eagan said: "With Comcast, the concern for acquisition risk doesn't have to be logical."

Eventually, Comcast might monopolize cable television.

This is strange because Time Warner replaced Comcast in my area, and now it might change back to Comcast?

Gosh, with Time Warner getting purchased by Comcast, I hope that doesn't mean Bright House is going down, too because Bright House actually is under control by Time Warner. :(

Well, the bottom line is that Comcast needs to be stopped. I am sure people will protest this if an agreement is indeed reached.
TWC in...
Lansing: Comcast, Channel 36, STAR ID 22840
E. Lansing: Comcast, Channel 40, STAR ID 22842
Lansing Area: Broadstripe, Channel 40, STAR ID 25349
Current STAR count: 32. Be sure to see my channel for links to all the uploads!

Then again, they could be buying them out so there aren't any fights with channels and cable providers such as the Viacom one that happened around the New Year. :hmm:

If this happens, then Time Warner over here will turn into Comcast since it's the only cable provider available in the Imperial Valley. Hellooooo poor customer service here. Now I'm starting to think twice on switching back to cable.

I would be surprised if a deal was ever struck between Comcast and Time Warner.  Those two cable companies are rivals right now.

If that happens, Time Warner here in North Texas will revert back to Comcast.

If that's the case we'd have Comcast here in NW Ohio for the first time, however Buckeye kicks the crap out of Time Warner and definitely Comcast.

Wouldn't the federal government be obligated to prohibit such a buyout? Comcast would basically have a monopoly if they bought out Time Warner.

One would think so, but then you look at all the other monopolies that exist, such as Macy's (which took over Hudson's in eastern Michigan, including Lansing), Walmart, etc.
