I wondered if a new banner could be made for the forums as kind of a tribute to those who have lost their lives in the recent tornado outbreak in the south. I am sure that this is the deadliest outbreak in all of our lifetimes, since the tragic death toll continues to rise.

I think a red colored banner would be suitable. With the words "2011 Tornado Outbreak" on the bottom.

I don't think it's necessary. Otherwise, special banners will be expected after every "major" severe weather event causing casualties, and then people will start arguing over what's "major" enough to warrant a banner in the first place.

I guess you are right. But I do have a question... was the logo red all this week? Or was it normal? (Haven't been online all week iirc).

I don't remember 100%, but I think I do remember seeing a red banner. However, considering TWC was in alert mode, that makes sense.

But this is a horrific event. It goes beyond many tornado events of the past, even the "super outbreak" of 1974. It's a once in a thousand year event, considering the death toll. One was made for the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Yeah me too, I mean after all, it's not everyday that you see 400+ deaths from tornadoes. It's a significant event.

I saw it just a couple of hours ago, but I also didn't bother to clear my cache and reset the page, so that could have been a figment of my computer's imagination.

I was out of town and didn't personally take it down. Thanks to Jesse for getting on that! If you still see it your cache may need to be cleared

Weird. Same thing happened at home. Had the old banner until today. Didn't clear my cache on either computer. :dunno:

I still see the Hurricane Irene banner. On both computers. And with cleared caches. :(

Call me crazy, but maybe this caching issue should be looked into. I still see the Irene banner on multiple computers. I've never been to a website (that I know of) where old graphics are cached for days after being replaced. :huh:

This time it is highly probable that the Irene banner has not been taken down yet. However, I am also confused at the instances seen earlier in this thread where people mention that the banner is still up, and Jesse says it has been gone for days. :blink:
And some of you may just be thinking "Well, it is just a banner. What's the big deal?" But I feel that an out-of-date banner gets old after awhile and makes the entire forums look out-of-date.

And Jesse seems so serious about it. :P I've always suspected he's just playing with us but didn't want to get into an argument or anything.
