I'm working on creating a mass array of twc today logos that'll go along with the forums and possibly the site... for instance, you'll see a semi modified version of the logo for storm alert mode, Winter Weather Storm Alert, among other major TWC events... and also I want to create some for the holidays.... However I need your help!
What I need are some major TWC event ideas to create forum logos for... for instance, I'm already working on a Tropical Related Storm Alert logo, a Winter Weather Storm Alert logo... What other major TWC events are there to create logos for?
Also, what other holidays should I create a logo for? I've created the Christmassy-December like logo... What others do you all recommend?
Also! feel free to contribute some images here in this thread for use when I create them, this way, everyone will have contributed. I feel this is a good idea B)

Here's my idea for the storm alert forum logos for Tropical Storms and Hurricanes....
For each event, I would create a logo for the forums for that specific event... I'll work on the Winter weather ones soon
at the moment, these two are just drafts until I get opinions and some (doable) suggestions...

OK. Here is my list so far... strikeouts indicate completed logos.
main- New Years
- Valentine's Day
- St. Patrick's Day
- Easter
- 4th of July
- Halloween (contest?)
- Thanksgiving (contest?)
- Heat Wave
- Winter Storm Alert
Tropical Storm AlertHurricane Storm Alert
Any others I should possibly work on? For the ones that have (contest?) next to them, should there be contests for them? If so, I'll happily put the original PSD up for people to work with as a template...

To answer this question, next year's holiday logo will have the word forums in there... this one I have up now was done within an hour's work to get a holiday logo up. It looks good so I kept it, lol. If I wanted to, I could stretch it apart and put "forums" in there...

I already have a logo for Halloween. I suppose if it comes down to it we could have a contest for the Thanksgiving logo, but honestly I'd be content to simply use whatever you think up.

IMO, since there are several national holidays (Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, etc) we should just have one patriotic logo for use with all such holidays that has an American flag background or something. Just my two cents..

Does anyone know what font "WICKED" and what font "WEATHER" is in just incase TWC decides to whip out the winter weather storm alert card early this year, so that I can create the logo...

I might be doing a sliiight overhaul on the main forum logo, not sure what I'm going to do yet, it'll still look like what it is, but with a little tweak... I don't know what I mean yet, don't hold me to it yet, it's only 6am, lol. :thinking: But wait until I give my final approval on the main logo because the one I posted was just a draft...

The logo says "Happy 2009" but it's not 2009 yet. ;)

As New Year's is drawing to a close, pretty much, for now the logo I posted in this post (https://twctodayforums.com/forums/index.php/topic,1740.msg75652.html#msg75652) is the main forums logo until I get tired of it and decide to revamp it, lol...

As I said, I am figuring out how I wanna play with that, but for right now, until I'm bored with it, I'm not motivated enough to put the effort forth to work on something new, lol... I've got ideas in my head I just don't know how I'm going to implement them

Whilst I truly appreciate all your hard work, I'm awestruck by the fact that it takes being bored to motivate you to do anything. Whatever happened to doing things without the need for motivation, having a love for the site as your motivation? IIRC, we had a similar problem when you finished with the site. I had to put it up myself, otherwise I would've had to wait until you felt like making a guide (for the record, it was easy-a guide wouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes).
Maybe I just expect too much because I see Tyler working all the time at TWCC and he never seems to need special motivation. :hmm:

You took that the wrong way. When I said "I won't make a new logo until I'm bored with the old one" it means I like my work and I won't change it based on what one person says. I apologize for the wording I chose on that. I love my design, and in my heart, I won't change it based on one opinion.
I'm planning up a revision on it, yes, however, I don't feel I need to work on it right away because many are satisfied with what's there right now. I don't need any special motivation either. I chose bad words to express my thought, sorry about that :/

You know, only one person asked you to change the design. You don't have to do it just because one person didn't like it. :)
Anyway, I understand that your under alot of stress right now, and I understand that you didn't mean for what you said to sound as it did. B) :thumbsup:

The fade was a little difficult to get just right, lol... Also, I wanted to try to imitate the XLv2/ISv1 look a bit, but not 100%.

I didn't intend for it to be a background, plus I can't have the blue text on blue... you wouldn't be able to see it

Yeah, that was my thought exactly. How can you take the background away, when text and forum header are both blue? Doesn't seem to me like that would look too good, but maybe Tyler sees it differently.

i too thought of that when i saw it. but also understood about the blue on blue problem, so i didn't say anything.

I chose blue for my design because it's one of my 2 favorite colors. I wouldn't change it for the world, lol.
As to the white background, I see where you're going with that, so thus I chose to do a bit of a fade effect. Again, I wanted to make it sort of look like the XLv2/ISv1/ISv2 but not 100%.

Well the background could be an image, instead of white. Or, you could change the top default image to a picture of clouds or something. There's lots of possibilities...

If everyone likes the logo, I'll begin the work on transitioning the forum logos over to this style after April :) I'll work with Jonathan to get a red version of the circle logo for Storm Alert times... I believe this is my start on getting the logos transitioned into 2009 :yes: I am extremely happy with this logo :)

Not bad!! include this one in the package :)
Any rate, I made another modification, I fixed the spacing issue... The glow on the slogan is not visible upon a darker background. It's there so that when you put it towards a light background, the slogan's visible.

It would require me to start from scratch. I'm happy with it... :) I'll figure out the padding in the forum CSS file for Gary to tweak so that a few pixels could be gained back.

I wear thick bi-focals and the computer is LCD. They don't go together. Maybe I can see it better with my pince-nez

I agree, it is a bit too big.

The only reason it appears large is because I have to play with the CSS file and send it Gary's way to fix the padding issues... that'll fix about 15 pixels. The logo is the perfect size for me :)

Oh well. I never said, I didn't like it. I said I couldn't see it. I almost failed my CDL test cuz I couldn't see without my +3.00 glasses, and the LCD monitor ain't helping either. Lo Siento maestro. :happy:

For those who are nitpicky and would like the tweaks for their forum experience changed, view the attached screenshot, which has the necessary Stylish style sheet so you can make that tweak. It's only a 14 pixel gain.... As Gary has said, and I have said, I'm happy with the way things are now. So, this should help keep some of you nitpickers happy :P

My goal is to get one made for each show, then create the PHP script to have it spit out the right logo for the time of day, but right now, this will work as the flagship morning logo until then! :) I've discussed this idea with Martin and have had it approved, thus it'll happen in the coming weeks!
