YWT got a relaunch like WUWA did this morning. With A&B in NY, and Maria and Jen at TWC. Anyone watching this morning? Did it sound like A&B moved to NY for good? Why would they do that???

I was reading that story yesterday that they were going through some changes & was like what maybe this will be good so we'll see but i'll tell you as a true new yorker i'm thrilled that Mike & Steph are here! :thrilled:

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be graphics wise, I like the opener, but they need to pull the L3rds up some so the text doesn't run too close to the top of TWC logo. They had this problem with the relaunch in June 2009. Also as IcemanNYR pointed out, they need a new NY studio, it's extremely too small and something that they should have been trying to develop first before starting this experiment.

I still don't like how YWT still plays production music a lot. It makes the show look dead.

For those who didn't see it, there seems to be two versions of this show's opener. One that includes Mike and Stephanie and the other that I'm guessing is generic. I'll post the generic version here later.

NOTE - For some reason the tag to crop videos to 16:9 aspect video ratio isn't working if you're using Chrome, it does work in IE9.

I like the graphics-very clean looking. I just really wish they had some music that wasn't so.....eh. It just doesn't fit.

I like this refresh better than the previous look. Looks very Today Show-ish if you ask me...not that that's a bad thing though.

I thought the same thing when looking at the graphics used on the teaser and I also agree that it's a whole universe better than the previous graphics. :yes:

I agree! And, one element that I really like was added-actual footage of weather, people, and places. That was one element I felt was sorely lacking. Evert sice June '08 . It "makes" the package much more appealing to me.

Me too! Ha, I was literally just thinking that. None of the openers after the 2008 relaunch had "pictures" with them, if you know what I mean. But this looks a lot better.
I really like these new graphics! :biggrin: The music, eh, but the graphics are definietely a step in the right direction.
For some reason, I didn't realize we would still have Maria and Jen at TWC hosting YWT...I thought it was going to be all A&B from NY.

That's because the theme they use IS YWT's theme. ;)
Anyways, love the intro :biggrin: but bleh for not changing the music -_-

What hours were Mike & Stephanie on?
I checked 9am ET and it was just Jen & Maria.

Sorry, I'm talking about the production music that usually plays at :30 after.

Also, YWT and WUWA no longer uses Orange Lower 3rds and now uses blue/green lower 3rds like Weekend View uses.

I LOVE those graphics! BTW, does anyone else besides me remember where those joggers in the beginning of the opener originally came from? :D
Also for once, the lower third color scheme actually MATCH the opener!

That lower third color debuted on Saturday and its being carried over all morning shows now.. wtf :huh:

A new brighter-blue lower third color debuted on Saturday during WN (maybe WV?) and its been carried on all shows since then except for FO and WCL

Oh, now I know what you're talking about. I was actually gonna bring up about whether that was a new color they were using for the L3rds coincidentally on the same day they apparently debuted. :P

I'm very confused about the new YWT openers now. It looks like they have two: one with A&B and one without. Do A&B not host all 3 hours (or however long it is) of YWT? :blink:

So I guess essentially there's 4 hosts and they use the opener that doesn't include A&B for the other two hosts which doesn't make sense because they've made it clearly obvious that YWT is an A&B show now and have been for almost 3 years.

Agreed, I definitely prefer the music track used for the "generic" opener. I also prefer the headlines track used in the generic opener (as seen during the 9am ET opener yesterday).

So, it looks like Mike Bettes is just visiting Stephanie in NYC. So I'm guessing now is that the "virtual host" format will be on YWT

Well, everything I just thought is now completely untrue. :rolleyes: This doesn't make any sense either. Will Mike be with Maria and Jen/Eric in the Atlanta studios, then? I mean, they made a special YWT opener with Mike and Stephanie on it, so certainly he'll still be a host of YWT. Honestly, I think he would have been a good asset to the NY team, but that's okay. I just hope he has a spot back in Atlanta.

It's Steph in NYC and Mike in ATL from 7AM-9AM. Someone else will likely take Steph's place at 9AM while Mike continues, right?

Mike will be gone 4 weeks starting April 30th as he does the annual tornado hunt.

4am-5:30am Ryan.
5:30am-6am Maria and Eric.
6am Al and Stephanie.
7am-9am Stephanie in NYC Mike and Maria in ATL.

Looks like Mike is going back and forth. NBC is wasting money on sending Mike back and forth to Atlanta and NYC. They should just keep Mike in NYC forever.

Today it was Ryan at 4am, Maria and Eric at 5:30am and 9am.
It's odd that Stephanie and Mike can't do the 9am hour when in NYC.
When Mike was in ATL Friday he was on 7am-10am.

Now that Stephanie is based in NYC the YWT format is back to what they were doing before the Olympics,
7am-9am ET Stephanie NYC & Mike in ATL. Jen or Maria do reporting and the 7 Day Forecast.
9am It's Mike with Jen or Maria.
