What about the pre-1997 years? Why leave them out of the poll? If I had to choose one of the poll choices, it'd be 1997-2000.

Billy, you do have to keep in mind that this is a CURRENT TWC forum, meaning the discussion generally only goes back as far as 2000. But I have changed the poll to include the earlier years anyway.

I chose 1990-1997. Those years were definitley the best for TWC. The LF music was fantastic. There was Network Music, Trammell Starks, Peter Buffett, Shadowfax, etc. I could go on for an hour about all the great stuff back in those years.

True, this is TWC Today, so it is for the more recent stuff, but that leads me to wonder why 1997-2000 was included in the poll... 1997 is kind of a strange year to start/stop at.

Buy anyway, I chose 1990-1997 for the same reasons Gary stated; great music, real weather-related programming...

Well I really don't know why he chose to start where he did. But I agree that it didn't seem to make much sense.

2000-2003, with 1997-2000 (especially the Weather Center AM/PM era) being a close second.

2000-2003.  I liked Atmosphere's, I must admit.  I also liked the programming, and the hosts of the programming during this era.

The '98-'01 graphics were my favorite, hands down. '01-'03 are a close second. With the way the poll is laid out, I guess it's 2000-2003.
Matt (ErnestoAlert)

For those interested...my username is derived from Tropical Storm Ernesto's Storm Alert fame. As most know, this was a ridiculous move by The Weather Channel, considering Ernesto was quite weak. The name is intended to be taken in a sarcastic tone.

I chose 2003-2005. I really liked that era. I liked the gradients and lines they used in the lower thirds, and the music was very good (with the exception of Afternoon Outlook, I didn't like that theme too much). After 2005, things started to go REALLY downhill.

2005 was the last good year of TWC, IMO. They had excellent Storm Alert coverage during storms (Katrina, Wilma, etc.) because we all know it was an extremely active Hurricane Season year. But in 2006, it's as if TWC expected every tropical system, even a mere Tropical Storm, to wipe everyone off the face of the Earth. 2007, so far, they haven't overhyped ANYTHING yet, IMO, but that could very well change, but we'll see.

TWC just gets worse and worse by the year.

I'm for current.. :)
You're in the minority here, at least here at TWC Today and TWC Classics. :D

I personally think the only thing that made 2003-2005 the last good years were the STARs, and SOME of the music.

Without those 2 essential parts, 2003 would've been the last good year.(prior to 2003 relaunch, that is)

I have been an on and off viewer since 1996, but the prime years of TWC is 1998-2003
