I guess the peak years for me watching was during the Trammell/Ficara era (1996-1999) What about everyone else?

2002-2003 were the golden years for me. after that, it went downhill.

I was an avid viewer from 1992-1999, but my favorite years by far were 96-99.

I still watch The Weather Channel but my favorite years was the mid 90's to 98.

Id' say for me, it is 1995 or 1996 through about 1999 or 2000; the late 1990s.

I still watch TWC; but I liked TWC the best 1997 - 2000.

I rarely watch anymore. Lack of interest and no time are two components.

I started watching TWC in 1997. I liked the network from 1998 up until fall 2006. Then it started going downhill.

IMO it first went downhill in 2000 when the new music programmer started. Most of the playlists from 200o suck because they're composed mostly of classic jazz and big band type tunes, which I can't stand. And then, IMO, TWC sank a little lower a couple years later when they introduced Atmospheres and Storm Stories. Granted,I had a little patience for Atmospheres, but by the time SS came on I was sick of that type of programming on TWC. So yeah, in my opinion TWC has been slowly drifting downhill for awhile now.

For me it was 1999-2001. But it's decent in the present.

Yeah, I wasn't too happy about that either. I think the new logo is very plain and boring. Anyone can make a blue box and write the words The Weather Channel in it. At least the old log showed a LITTLE creativity.

I agree 100%. The old one looked much nicer. Wasn't as vibrant, and did show creativity. I was mad when they changed the IS and XL

That's when I wathced TWC the most as well.

I'm new here...though some may recognize me from TWC Classics.
The period from '98 to '03 strikes me as well-organized. Meaning, it seems like programming fit right in, and the program openers all matched. In my mind, you can't beat the '98-'01 openers. (Love the AM, Day, and PM backgrounds)
To add on: There wasn't any of this "Global Warming, Oh my!" business occurring, or at least nowhere near as much as today. TWC actually showed weather...not Storm Stories or other shows.

the late 90's-2003 were the best. I always had a thing for those 98-01 graphics and the 01-03 graphics were pretty good themselves. Once SS debuted, it's been downhill.

I also like the 98-01 graphics as my favorite. They looked good with the 4000 and XL v1

I was an avid viewer from late 92 until 98. My interest dropped rather quickly after that. From 2000 on my interest mainly consisted of watching an occasional forecast. These days I don't watch it all. I think the last time I watched was last year. :o

best and favorite time for me watching TWC was from 91-99 or so, and I liked all the stars till we got this intellicrap :censored: wouldnt be so bad were it not for the voiceover

The IntellISTAR just doesn't have the "classic" feel to it. Even the WeatherSTAR XL V3 retains a bit of the classic feeling, considering its kiln to the XL V1.
The voice-over itself is not so bad. I enjoyed the voice-over during its early days, when "your" was used instead of "our," and the forecast was not read.

Wait. Was is 1999 or 2000 when I begun to watch TWC? :-\ It was somewhere around that timeframe. Sorry, I can't seem to remember when I first began to watch The Weather Channel. :rolleyes:

My favorite era of the Weather Channel is 1991 to 1995, coinciding with the "Weather You Can Always Turn To" theme. The fonts, graphics, and theme music of the early '90s were always my favorite, and the channel itself was as direct and unpretentious then as it ever was.
Nostalgia plays a part, too: This essentially represents what the Weather Channel was like when I started watching it, and quite a few meteorological events that I remember (Hurricane Andrew, the Blizzard of '93) fell into this era as well.

So, let's do this.....instead of all the belly-aching....who here actually LIKES it and watches it?....because, let's face it...the OLD WAY isn't coming back...no matter how much we all whine about the good ol' days! :)
