Bringing a topic/poll back from Twcclassics. I love the old icons. Especially because you can tell a regular thunderstorm icon with two stikes and a severe icon with 1 strike. The new icons I absolutely hate!
-
I wouldn't call them new, since they've been in use for 6 months now :D
-
I like both sets alot. They're both great icon sets, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'd pick the old ones.

Me too

I love the new icons. IMO, now that I've gotten used to them, they look a lot better than the old icons. B)
-
I still like the old icons better. With the new ones, there's still no difference between isolated storms and scattered storms. There's also no strong storms icon. :censored:
-
Frankly, I haven't liked TWC's icons since the 90's.
-
I like both the new ones and the old ones. My favorite icon is wintry mix from the new set. I love the way the sleet bounces. :P
-
Yes, sleet bounces :)
haha
I like these, and the old ones. These ones seem more realistic than the other ones.
-
I like them both, but often times I find some of the new icons hard to differentiate (like snow and rain). Plus on the IntelliStar, they seem to be too high on the black bar.
I get the best of both worlds since the XL still has the old icons. Although the storm cloud icon looks like an evil Smurf hat...
-
Once you get used to the rain and snow... you'll be able to see the difference.

I agree!
-
The general public probably could care less whether or not there is a severe thunderstorm icon or not. Most people consider a severe thunderstorm..to be "a storm"
It does annoy me thatthere is no difference between the scattered and isolated storms icon. Oh well.

Same here. The newer icons are great, but I just wish there were more icons in the set, such as an isolated thunderstorms, AM clouds, AM thunderstorms, and strong storms among others. I still like the older set better, which is why I am still using them in my weather reports over at the classics forum.

Probably not, but you have to realize that MOST people who watch TWC are not the general public or average joe's. Most viewers are either fans of the channel like we are or are weather junkies. In either case more notice is taken of such things then wouldbe by an average person casually watching the channel.
-
When I saw the new icons, I fell in love with them immediately :P  I liked the old ones too, but it just felt like they were getting too old. 8)
-
I'm not a fan of the "new" icons...simply because they're not iconic. They look like ambiguous blobs of color, especially at small sizes.
-
I like the new wintry ones better than the rain or thunderstorm ones. The rain looks like light snow and there's no difference with scattered and isolated thunderstorms.
-
The new icons are plain too blobby.
-
I'm used to the new ones. I still prefer the 1998 icons over the new icons, but the new set is pretty good as well. I'm not sure whether I should still use the 1998 icons in my weather report graphics or switch to the new ones.
-
Mike, the 1998 icons were the same before the new icons came out. Actually the old icons are still used on the XL. I wish the Intellistar and Satellite forecast had them back
-
No sir. They've changed twice since then. Mike is correct.
-
Oh.... I actually think they changed
For one thing the variably cloudy icon changed
-
I remember seeing variably cloudy once on A&B awhile back.
-
Really! How strange!
-
I only started watching TWC when the new icons came out
-
I've seen the variably cloudy icon used a few times on the Global Forecast and International Business Travel segments in the past few years.
