TWC's Programming Languages and Graphics Libraries
« on: June 02, 2013, 03:26:36 PM »
I've been wondering this for a long time, but I've never been able to find anything on it. Does anyone know what languages/libraries TWC uses to program its radar software and BreWS and such? I'm guessing that it's either DirectX or some custom graphics library for the graphics, but I have no ideas as far as the language goes. Perhaps C++?

This is, of course, assuming they use Windows for that software. If it's anything like the STARs though, it may be running on Linux or BSD, at which point I have zero ideas whatsoever.

I already know that they use the GRLevelX suite for their secondary radar software.

Mostly modified versions of WSI software as they are owned by the Weather Channel. BreWS is more than likely just a graphic generated by someone at TWC to summarize priority topics. The text and information are too precise to be computer generated

I see. Any ideas as to what WSI's Max software is written in then?
