In a tweet from David Clark he is saying the "The update is rolling out nationally now and we should see the update in the next few hours"

Thanks.

You're welcome! I'm watching now to see the update.

The satellite sidebar also has updated graphics (and yes, my Charter headend STILL does not have an IS2 yet).

Now I think they need to work on updating Weatherscan. It's really outdated in my opinion.... LOL

Moving further away from the design cues introduced with WATT, I see.  Does it do more than just radar/almanac?

No it just loops the radar and almanac.

I think you're talking about this: https://twitter.com/daveclark/status/635132309591580672

As of right now, nothing yet on DISH, anyone see anything?  I would think DISH/DTV would get something since that pic looks like a national IS.
That's what I was trying to find. Thanks for bringing that up, I couldn't find that picture anymore.

Meanwhile, the updates have arrived to my local I2XD. What I've seen different so far include the new radar and a new almanac product, but what else is different? All that's there are those two new products. It seems as if all the other products on the sidebar were scrapped for the new ones. I like the new products, but was it actually necessary to remove all the other information that was there previously?
Honestly, some of the information was less important, but quite a few products were good, if not great.

Now I think they need to work on updating Weatherscan. It's really outdated in my opinion.... LOL
I doubt they will update it anytime in the future. They've announced a new local service called LocalNow in the past few months (I had heard about this about a month or two ago), for what I assume are internet television services? I don't know for sure. :dunno:

I love the ingenuity of the Weather Channel these days. I feel as if they're patching the "problems" if you will. The radar looks great. Now if they had a radar box for long form, that would be perfect. I'm peaked to see how TWC plays things out from here.

I thought that too but, with TWC losing longform or cutting it down over the next year, it's not really needed. I would like to see TWC have Aletrs on there like in that pic.

Rumor has it Verizon is going to possibly return the WTC to channel lineup.  Verizon has had a lot of complaints about accuweather channel not being local enough -why they recently changed to more local regional coverage.  And because during storms they are not even close to what the TWC offers.  I have been a huge critic of TWC all these years but one thing I give them is their storm coverage.  If the TWC really is going back to live 24/7 weather then I want the WTC back but I will not change providers just to get one channel.

Viewing the satellite version we have on campus, I think the new sidebar update is perfect. National radar rotation with major airport delays much faster is well suited for the national feed.

The local version on the other hand... eh... it's a start. The radar and improved almanac are very welcome changes but, unlike the national feed, where the auxiliary segments were "top [rain/hail/wind/snow] reports", the local sidebar segments had much more value. Now, the LDL lacks such fundamental information as barometric pressure and, even more importantly, the dew point! Dew point is only the best measure of surface air moisture content and how humid it feels outside.

Obviously the best solution is to simply add this information to the segment rotation on the main LDL itself. Once TWC does that, they can address the gaping blank space to the right of the video window and under the ticker and the almost totally pointless static "today's top stories" box at the top right. It was useful when TWC had a rundown, but now it's just a waste.

Looking at what Star Team added (and removed) on the sidebar, I can see why most of the information is gone. Mainly it's due to Hardware and rendering limitations. If you look at the transitions, they are much more primitive and not as smooth as how the products used to animate. Hopefully Star Team finds a way to add more products to the sidebar.

Where did you hear that? Verizon signed an exclusivity agreement with Accuweather. TWC isn't coming back any time soon to FiOS.

Dave Clark will be talking about the coming changes with the Weatherbrains podcast tonight at 9:30 eastern, if anyone's interested.

Video keeps stalling so I hope someone else had better luck!

Dave said tonight TWC wants to go back to a 24/7 live Channel!  Of course the video stopped right after he said that. When the video came back, He said they would be rolling that out in the next few months. Weíll see if thatís true or itíll take a year.  Flick and a Forecast was one of their biggest mistakes Dave also said. Weather Geeks is staying Dave thinks it shiuld be an hour. Alís E-mail spat was not the reason WUWA got canceled.

In case anyone doesn't have time to listen to or watch this, I wrote up a summary here:

So with this "going back to weather" strategy - do you think we'll see a new logo - like more of the old type logo coming back?
