New Show: Hurricane Hunters
« on: January 16, 2012, 02:40:18 AM »
"The Weather Channel Companies (TWCC) announced today it has greenlit "Hurricane Hunters," a new character-driven documentary series revealing the high-stakes world of pilots who fly planes into hurricanes to gather meteorological data from the eye of the storm. The show tracks their lives and dangerous missions during the height of hurricane season. Produced by Christian D'Andrea, Aleco Bravo, Rich Battista, and High Noon Entertainment, the series is comprised of 4x 30-minute episodes and will premiere in July 2012. "

Looks like another copycat long-form show. At least it has something to do with weather unlike Coast Guard Alaska.

Coast Guard Alaska does deal with weather if you would watch it enough. Anyway, this show sounds okay...

Sad that they will produce a show on this yet refuse to have a meteorologist who actually is a hurricane hunter work for them.

That's b/c they're only interested in the "drama" part of it.

It would be funny if this show is pre-empted many times if this year's Hurricane Season is busy.

Does TWC/NBC realize that most of these shows are VERY similar to each other.? And that no one is watching them (except Coast Guard Alaska). They should just go back to only 1 hour of long-form per night like it was long ago. These long-form shows are getting really annoying.

Are you sure no one is watching them? :dunno:  I know that none of us are, but as we've discussed in the past, I don't think TWC would show these if their ratings/viewship is declining.

I miss the old episodes of Storm Stories (the only longform I really liked). Anyone know if I can get that, and Atmospheres on DVD?

Atmospheres no, but I've found several DVDs of the Towers version of Storm Stories on Amazon. Search for them there.
