Classic TWC Question
« on: October 07, 2008, 12:46:46 PM »
I've got a question for anyone here who might have some knowledge of the old days of TWC (we're probably talking the 80's old). According to the article below (link at end of question), TWC would, on rare occasions, air cartoons and movies from Disney at certain times in the evening. Is that true? I'm afraid I've never heard that anywhere other than this article (which I've also never seen before).

Why would they do that?

Well, I'd like to know that too!

As I recall, they DID show some sort of alternate programming in the evening. Of course, that recollection could be incorrect.  :dunno:

Look, I know Wikipedia may be inaccurite sometimes, but I found out recently that someone deleted the description claiming that TWC aired cartoons and adult movies from Disney durring the overnight hours on their Wikipedia artical.

Besides, why would TWC do that? TWC was once a strugling network back durring the early to mid '80s.

That's why they'd do it.

Sorry to bust your bubble WS3000, but I'm pretty sure that factoid is true. I remember something like that. I was looking for confirmation. I asked at the wrong board though, because there isn't but one or two people here who are my age or older, and thus few of you would have any idea.

I don't ever remember seeing alternate programming on TWC in my location going back to the mid 80s. AFAIK, it was always all weather 24-7.

I cant imagine "The WEATHER Channel" airing cartoons but we are talking 80s here i guess it wouldve been possible.

Well, on another note, for the past three years or so, Cartoon Network had been airing full-time non-animated movies and TV shows on the wrong themed-based channel. The channel supose to be deticated to cartoons and animation!

At least thier sister network, CNN doesn't air cartoons overnight on what would supose to be a 24-hour news channel.

Even if TWC aired those programs overnight, then what about the LF?

if I remember correctly, the local forecast was seen more during the day and less at night... It's possible they only showed the LF twice an hour.
