Seems to be that I cannot embed two of my emulations.

Harvey several hours before making landfall:

Harvey the day after as a tropical storm, stalling near San Antonio and Austin:

How are you getting the rain to go over the city labels without totally blocking them out? I can't figure it out in After Effects.

I've taken a look at my past TWC SLF emulation videos and I'm quite surprised how well my graphic design skills have become. The first image from June 22, 2017 looks like *poop* and my most recent August 10, 2017 capture looks pretty distinguishable from the real thing.

General Discussion / Re: Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, 8/21
« on: August 16, 2017, 07:55:20 PM »
Too bad I'm not in the area to see the Total solar eclipse, but I'll see partial 80% solar eclipse which is better than 50 or 20%. I've never seen a solar eclipse in my life and am quite excited to see it. For me the next best eclipse would be April 8, 2024 which would be a 90% partial eclipse considering I'm still living in the NJ or PA area.

Local Forecast / Re: Unavailable Local on the 8s music thread

The links direct to the production music page which hosts those songs, so the quality would be the best it could be as it's meant for HD productions and films. They're not a rip from YouTube or anything.

I assume you haven't watched a lot of TWC or just starting out, but that's the DirecTV local forecast that was implemented in Fall 2008. It is generated by the DirecTV cable box itself. It's basically a custom directv app that can receive signals from TWC headquarters to display the local forecast full screen. This was in response to constant complaints of a lack of a local forecast from Satellite TV customers. Unfortunately only DirecTV was capable of doing so because Dish didn't have proper ITV technology to do the same so an app was created instead which the TV user would have to launch. There are countless of videos on YouTube with those forecast graphics. There is an HD version too with a different background.

Edit: In response to the College website weatherstar xl icons, that's just a custom web script displaying the forecast for that town that uses the "WeatherStar XL" icons. It's probably from the C.M.S (Content Management System) that the school uses. I have seen that on countless other websites and is probably an old script created back when internet weather was just taking off. Most likely 2004 or 2005. I can tell from the 16 bit color that was most likely created back when home computers had strict memory limitations unlike now. Probably Windows 98 and 2000 were still somewhat commonly found.

I've found several unavailable music played on the local on the 8s from 2009-2012. So Far only I've only gone through Yvonne Ayers but several artists were there like CC Gilmore, Samual Lincoln, David Keen, Dan Marx, Patrick Yandall, Anthony Davilio, and Bryan Steele.

I've linked some songs by Yvonne Ayers but you'll need to create an account to view the website.

Emulator Videos / Re: WeatherFan_2013 emulations
« on: July 16, 2017, 10:00:14 PM »
I've decided to restart my WeatherStar XL / Intellistar emulation endeavors since I have all the software and equipment to get an authentic emulation with up to 95% accuracy.

Right now, I am starting with the WeatherStar XL V3 project since I have never attempted that to date, and so far not too shabby. Base maps and Radar are not a worry anymore for any STAR I attempt, since I have the software needed to mimmick TWC base maps and color tables.

Here's a small sample that I posted below.

Nice job on the banners and the XL! I've always wanted to see a simulation of older style TWC maps with live weather data.
Thanks! I've posted the revamped version below and I think it looks great!
