The radars and their codes definitely helped me in regards to geography/map skills as I was growing up.

This leaves Cantore as the only OCM left who's been with the network since the 80s.

Yep.

I finally got a chance to check the show out...and I like it. I really like it. The set's a bit "dark", but it flows and I get what they were trying to do. This is what I like to see from a live weather show.

The LO8s need to be put back as it was before NBC went cuckoo with their changes.

Here's an article from the Capital Weather Gang. It says AMHQ's last day is Nov. 2.

Plus, could we be looking at a possible sale of the network down the line?

My apologies. I did not know there was a thread already dedicated to AMHQ's cancellation.

Admins, please delete.

Programming and Graphics / "AMHQ" Cancelled
« on: September 10, 2015, 10:55:25 AM »
Sam Champion's "AMHQ" will be no more as of November 2. They also appear to be cutting down on long-form programming to focus more on weather (surprise!).

Lots of other tidbits also (possible TWC sale?).

What a shame. She's a big reason why I got so fascinated with weather growing up.

^^^THIS.

She was one of the main reasons I watched TWC growing up. She was the few minority women I can recall on air during that time.

There's really no reason to watch now...they're gonna screw over my boy Dave, watch. Mike, too...notice they only have him in the field.

Typical summer weather for the region, but a real heat wave is on tap for the weekend into early next week.

Several records were tied or broken today:

  • Audubon Park in New Orleans set a new record with 100 degrees, breaking the old record of 98 set in 2011.
  • Metro Airport in Baton Rouge tied a record with 98 degrees, tying the record set in 1956.

A weak cold front has pushed through the area, dropping the humidity slightly but it's still hot. Expect the trend to continue the next few days.
