If interested, PM me for the details!

I've been hearing the August playlist since I got home from work around 5-6pm EDT

No VCR.  Got rid of that a while ago.  I tried to get some Weatherstar Jr clips a year or so ago from the cable system in my friend's barn, but never got around to getting a VCR hooked up for it, and the x'fering from VCR to computer I couldn't figure out anyway.  He shut down the cable system unfortunetly... but I did see the Jr in the rack unit, think he sent it back to TWC.

If the Trammell continues this weekend, I'll record some XL clips and post 'em.

I just remembered that since my computer is in the shop getting repaired (fried the power supply which in turn fried the motherboard - thanks mother nature and her random thunderstorms), I have no ability to record any XL clips.  I could record them with my digital camera video feature, but I have no way to download my camera until I get my system back, as my temporary laptop from work has no card reader.

So I apologize that there will be no XL clips of Trammell this go around, that is, unless I get my computer back before Trammell Fest ends.

That makes sense.  At least though when the satellite l/f goes dead, the status quo is maintained, albeit "out of order".  If the XL or the I/S (or 4000 or Jr) go dead, we get the satellite, which is a step back.

(if anything I've said has been replied to already or mentioned, i apologize.  this thread is indeed 50 pages)

OCMs & Personalities / Cantore's got it right
« on: August 08, 2008, 09:59:04 PM »
For those Evening Edition watchers out there, you may have heard Jim Cantore talk a lot lately about Vermont and the horrendous weather we've been having all summer up here.  He showed flood footage in VT earlier this week, drove by it today and it is bad.  Every day since around June, rain has fallen, in some places, 3-4" each day.  Rivers are wild and high.  Fields are flooded.  Farmers are hurting.  Tourism is hurting.  Our last rain-free weekend was July 4.

Cantore is a native of White River Jct, VT and I love it when he talks about what's going on in my neck of the woods.  And when we see weather events happening on TV, its difficult to picture it in person.  Well, its real, and thanks to Jim for the "heads up".

If the Trammell continues this weekend, I'll record some XL clips and post 'em.

A couple of things that are odd though - there appears to be some "stuttering" when a new track starts up.  Also, the Trammell playlist appears to be on "shuffle" mode... didn't it used to be in order, as on his CDs?  Also, I see the satellite forecast for a split second at the start of every local forecast.  Kinda makes me believe there's more than a playlist problem going on.  And am I correct in assuming, in whatever order the music is playing, that it continues "behind the scenes" during commercials and live broadcasts?  That's why when a Local Forecast starts, the song is already in progress?

Thx - and I'll hopefully get some new Xl vids this weekend!

When I first moved to VT a few years back, DirecTV had Comcast SportsNet.  Originally, CSN was Fox Sports *insert region of the country here*.  Before that, I think it was the SportsChannel.  So a channel like CSN should be available everywhere.  Like with NECN in New England, its a "Comcast news network" but available on any cable system.  Too bad its moving to digital - thanks Comcast - one of 4 channels I watch daily.

Even if Verizon didn't bail out of us in Northern New England, FIOS wasn't available.  Fairpoint's got a package deal with internet/tv/phone using DirecTV.  If Comcast hits the delete button on standard cable one more time... I may be ditching them and getting a phone line for the first time in quite a while.

I've been looking all over for a LAT48s-III thread ever since Wed and couldn't find it - only way I knew it was happening was the e-mail that I got.  So I recorded it, then converted it and produced it.  Then I clicked on CONTACT US http://www.twctodayforums.com/contact.php and sent it off, attached, assuming that it was received.  Then today, or was it yesterday, I put it on YOUTUBE to go along with my other local forecasts so that people can see this stuff on my youtube page.  I have never contributed to this new site (I did to TWCClassics) and since I have an XL (yes, the capital of Vermont does not rate an Intellistar), my vids are "something different".  Any of my XL vids I posted on my youtube page can be put on this site by the admin, and may be viewed by all.  This is the second LAT48s I've participated in, and actually was home that night and remembered the e-mail.  If you would like me to do something else to get the video out, I will.  Please, enlighten me.  I'm a newbie here  in regards to contributing/posting/whatever, but have been watching TWC since the late 1980s.

And I could'a sworn this thread was NOT here the other day.

Posted a couple new XL forecast vids on my YOUTUBE page, both from last week...

first is an evening XL featuring Eric Marienthal's "Big Country", one of my favorite songs from the early 90s, resurrected
for '08.

second is an afternoon XL featuring a Tornado Watch and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning... a rough evening in VT!

Check 'em out here:
