General Discussion / Re: Merry Christmas, TWC Today!
« on: December 25, 2010, 03:31:20 PM »
Merry Christmas everyone! We had to wait until about 12:30 to open presents because my sister had to work this morning, she works at a dog kennel and obviously they were really busy. I really only got one thing (mainly because I asked for only one thing) an original Drobo! However my parents don't know anything about hard drives so they gave me cash to buy the drives with so right now it's just a shiny black box on my desk

Today I managed to open up a Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR tuner

I got one of those last year, they are so cool and the quality is amazing!

Ok, so I haven't been keeping up with TWC as I used to but this morning as I'm walking through the living room my dad had it on and I looked at the LOT8s and I thought "That's different" I checked and sure enough we got the IS2!!  I just checked my recordings for the LAT48s and I captured it so I'll have some video of mine up soon!

I watch Outsourced, that's a pretty good show but thats about it. History really has everything going for it, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, American Restoration and Top Gear, all great shows.

General Discussion / Re: What are you listening to?
« on: November 20, 2010, 09:15:29 AM »
I recently bought Taylor Swift's new album "Speak Now". It's awesome, I listen to the whole album at least once a day.

Does anybody know where I can get music by Ficara? I was watching one of Chazz's XL videos on YT and it had the song "How I Feel" in it and I really want it. I tried searching for it but it's not on iTunes and LimeWire was shut down so I don't know where else to go.

I'm at about 1998 technology wise. I have a cheap Tracfone cellphone, a 1985 52" tv, 1987, 1997 27" tv, a cheap Emachines computer.... I have to say I hate all the new technology crap, including on tv/TWC. I wish we could all go back to 1998 technology wise.  :hmm:

I like that idea. I wouldn't mind using Mac OS 9 again. However being an IT manager I'd rather manage Server 2003/2008 than NT Server. Once in a while I'll load Windows 98 or NT on a virtual machine when I feel nostalgic.

General Discussion / Re: Gaming
« on: October 19, 2010, 09:46:45 AM »
I used to be so into gaming but in the last few years I just don't have time anymore. I sold most of my consoles on eBay but here's what I used to have...

Nintendo:
NES - still have it
Super NES - still have it
Nintendo 64
Virtual Boy x2
Game Boy original
Game Boy Pocket
Game Boy Color - Pokemon edition
Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Advance SP
DS Lite
Wii - I sold mine but my sister recently bought one

Sega:
Genesis - Models 2 and 3
Dreamcast
Game Gear x2, the first one broke
Nomad

Sony:
PlayStation 1 - the original large size
PS2 - Silver slim
PS3 - original size

Microsoft:
XBox Original x2
XBox 360 - sold the first one while they were hard to get, then bought another one which I still have.

Do you guys remember Game Genie? I had one for every system it was available for, I know it's cheating but it made the gameplay so much better.

I noticed that. I couldn't resist. After all, I'm an Apple fanboy.

I dunno, I thought I was the Apple fanboy on these forums...  :bleh: I call a challenge...

I'm not sure about the nano, it's cool but I think people will prefer the old one. I'm glad to see the buttons back on the shuffle so you don't have to use the crappy earbuds with the buttons. The new touch looks awesome but since I have an iPhone I already have all that stuff.

My favorite thing was the new Apple TV, I have wanted something like this for a while. The only thing that upsets me is what why would I pay .99 cents to watch a TV show when I can jump on my Mini (which is already hooked up to my TV) and watch it for free on Hulu. The only benefit I see is you get access to the whole library of episodes, not just the latest 5 but I have Hulu Plus so about 10 episodes on that and it pays for itself.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Cable Boxes
« on: August 24, 2010, 10:40:58 AM »
Well this is an old thread but I thought I'd bring it back. We have 5 boxes in our house....

Motorola DCT6412III - In my 'office'. It's old but I like it the best.
Pace TDC787X HD DVR
Pace DC757X HD
Motorola DCT2500 SD
Motorola DCT2000 SD - I actually own this box

For some reason our cable co switched from Motorola to Pace boxes and I don't know why. Although some people I know are still getting Motorola boxes.
