General Discussion / History Will Be Made - NHL Theme Music
« on: June 06, 2010, 08:52:08 AM »
hey guys,
this one i have been wondering for a couple weeks.. the NHL has made this series of videos showing an epic play usually done inside the stanley cup, played in reverse to a piano track. i have looked high and low trying to figure out who makes that track, while answers online yeild that the track is made specifically for the NHL. while kinda doubt that the track was made specifically for the NHL, I am sure its on some production music library (one that im not familiar with myself). i will show you how i believe the track is not specifically made for the NHL by linking a NHL clip, and a fan made, while the fan made clip's audio track is longer in length.

Fan:
history will be made "Guy Lafleur"

Help and Support / Windows 7/Vista/XP installation issues resolved.
« on: March 17, 2010, 10:35:53 AM »
While it has been awhile since I have installed the emulator on a fresh computer, I decided to try it on a fresh Win7 install.
The notes outlining pertain to ALL installations.
Since late December, I lost one of my hosts due to drive failure, and didn't remember that the emulator downloaded an overlay from that host, which should have been pointed to the CINE server instead. This file is usually requested when it doesn't exist in the 'main' sub-directory, such as a fresh install.

After successful installation, and manually replacing the two files from the June '09 update, take this attached file "satradoverlay.png" and place it into C:\wsxl\main\
Ofcourse, after that, set your ID, then run the emulator.
While Vista seems to be the most problematic OS to work around with security, Win7 was a breeze, with no "run as administrator" requirements.
Please leave your notes below saying if this helped.

Local Forecast / Fair Skies vs. Sunny/Clear Skies
« on: March 10, 2010, 06:06:14 AM »
This one has me baffled, I was wondering if someone can clear this up for me..
What declares "Fair" skies. On my IS, the hourly obs says Clear skies (night), and on my XL, it says Fair skies, both for the same reporting station. Checking the report directly from the metar, the visibility is 10 miles, and ceiling is Unlimited, so it's Clear. Checking from the NWS' Regional Weather Roundup, same location Partly Cloudy, and the Point Forecast shows "Fair". I go outside and look up, and the sky is clear, but off to one side of my house, there are clouds around the horizon. Thanks to anyone who can clear this up for me.

General Discussion / NVidia S-Video TV Output Issue
« on: November 24, 2009, 05:11:36 AM »
This isn't so much of an issue as a quirk with nvidia cards, but I upgraded the computer that I use to stream my emulator to a newer desktop computer. The issue that I am having on the output is that the graphics card is putting a black border around the "unsafe" area of the screen, leaving the video contents inside border. The emulator relies on taking advantage of the entire screen area, not just the "safe" area. The NVidia graphics tool allows for the border color to be changed, but not removed. So my question is, has anyone experienced such an issue to have found out how to disable the outlying border? Incase anyone wants to examine what is happening, my stream is up, the link in my footer. Thanks to anyone who can share any insight!

News and Updates / Almanac Data
« on: October 06, 2009, 05:28:47 AM »
Well.. I've created somewhat of a fix to the inaccurate almanac data that has been experienced globally with the emulator. Sunrise/Sunset is calculated within the emulator by lat/long coordinates, it is not grabbed from an outside source, because of that, you must allow for VB6's primitive calculation system for some deviation, which is pretty darn close! For the moon dates, VB6 cannot calculate this (unless someone can shed some light).. So this data is grabbed from my XL, passed to the config server, then passed onto the emulator. please let me know if there are any other problems. the only other one i *might* forsee is the switch from DST to STD time. i will deal situation with that when it happens.
enjoy!
