Local Forecast / IntelliStar degradation for real!
« on: July 23, 2008, 04:18:38 PM »
I came from work today to see this on my IntelliStar:

It is like that on every screen that is not a map. And no, it's not my tuner, either. It appears like that on TV, too.

What the heck??

OCMs & Personalities / Jeff Mielcarz
« on: July 22, 2008, 12:54:30 AM »
From what I've heard, Jeff was an OCM a few years ago a few times during Overnight Outlook. Does anyone have any video footage of him as an OCM? I'd be interested in seeing it.

Local Forecast / XL Videos
« on: July 19, 2008, 09:39:59 PM »
Does anyone have any WeatherSTAR XL videos of the old one-minute flavor when the daypart forecast and regional forecast pages were used instead of the 24-hour forecast?

OCMs & Personalities / Cantore putting his job on the line
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:37:24 PM »
Tonight on EE at around 10:20 PM ET, Jim said that if the disturbance off the southeast coast isn't a tropical depression or greater by the 11 PM ET advisory, he will switch professions. :footinmouth:

So if this thing doesn't get any stronger or weakens, I don't think we'll see Jim on Monday...  :fear:

:rofl2:

Everything Else TWC / Show Ratings
« on: July 16, 2008, 01:25:34 PM »
Not sure if anyone has come across these before, but I've just found some rating numbers for all TWC's shows while browsing twcmediakit.com.

Your Weather Today is the highest-rated show on the network with 6.7 million viewers. And on the flip side, Weekend Outlook is the lowest-rated show with 2.3 million viewers.

Here are the numbers I found on the site for all shows:

Your Weather Today 6.7
Weekend View 6.6
PM Edition 6.5
Evening Edition 5.4
Day Planner 5.1
First Outlook 4.9
Weather Center 4.7
Weekend Weather Center 4.6
Abrams & Bettes 4.3
Weekend Now 3.8
Weekend Outlook 2.3

Local Forecast / Satellite LF Thunderstorm Forecast
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:40:07 PM »
Does the satellite LF (either SD or HD) ever show any colors painted on the map other than orange (thunderstorms) or red (severe possible). For example, has white (greatest risk) ever appeared on the map?

Everything Else TWC / Al Roker on A&B

Yep, you heard right. Al Roker is appearing on Abrams & Bettes tonight!

OCMs & Personalities / It's tieless Friday on EEWC
« on: July 04, 2008, 11:02:56 PM »
Wow, both Adam Berg and Rich Johnson are not wearing ties tonight. Rich without a tie is a normal occurrence on a Friday, but this is the first time I've seen Adam without a tie on.

Local Forecast / New SD Satellite LF flavor lineups
« on: July 01, 2008, 04:51:11 PM »
I was watching Victor's new videos he posted of the July playlist, and it seems that the SD satellite LF has a new flavor lineup. It seems that the :08/:38 and :18/:48 flavors now start with the Precipitation and Thunderstorm Forecast (or Severe Weather Alerts). It looks like the :28/:58 flavors are unchanged.

General Discussion / VCRs?

Here it is. 9:18, :28 and :38pm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5jurQ7ppwg

Heh, we both recorded at the same time. :P Here's my clip (from 8:38 CT or 9:38 ET)

And I've also got that one (and all of them) sitting here on my VCR!

With the recent severe weather we've had here, I'm wondering how dual feed Weather Updates will be preformed in the future when all the shows are moved in the HD studio. Obviously, they couldn't do the weather update from the video projector wall because that would be in use by the main show already in progress. Would they have to use the new key wall in the HD studio? Or would TWC keep another wall open somewhere else in the building just for weather updates?

Programming and Graphics / Climate Code set?
« on: June 23, 2008, 05:03:18 PM »
I came across this screenshot of the Climate Code's set:

Does anyone know where the set was located? I'd assume that it was where the current Forecast Earth set is located, inside the former Weekend View/Abrams & Bettes studio.

OCMs & Personalities / Kristin Dodd presents Adam Berg a special gift
« on: June 22, 2008, 12:35:21 PM »
Since Kristin knows that Adam likes to barbecue and Adam was on the phone to a girl and mentioned he was out of condiments, Kristin bought Adam a bottle of ketchup, mustard, and mayo.  :rofl2:

Programming and Graphics / What is your favorite new HD package?
« on: June 09, 2008, 08:12:12 AM »
So now that it's been a week since all the shows have gotten new graphics and music, which show's graphics and music do you now like best?

That comment coming from none other than Dave Schwartz.

After they showed a segment about windshield wipers (from the 100 Biggest Weather Moments) at 1:45 PM ET today on Weekend Now, Dave commented "Don't put Viagra on your windshield wipers. I guess that is the bottom line. You gotta keep them soft and supple." Kim Perez's only remark to Dave's comment was "Ohh, Dave?!"
