Here's the video... It's remarkable, he has such a great attitude about it. Go Dave!

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

To my surprise, TWC is still doing live coverage all day today, even though they're really just recapping everything that already happened.

Kelly is back!

The Weather Channel has named her the new co-host of AMHQ Weekend. She's already in the promos for the show that they run on air. So glad that they brought her back full time.

Programming and Graphics / 23.5 Degrees with Sam Champion
« on: January 13, 2016, 03:49:35 PM »
Sam Champion's new evening show now has a name: 23.5 Degrees. It's a reference to the angle of the tilt of the Earth. The show will debut in Feburary, but a timeslot is not yet known. It will be shot in both NYC and Atlanta, featuring multiple interviews that are each 10-15 minutes long. Also mentioned in the article: more on his week back at GMA, and some more about AMHQ.

I was surprised to see Marshall Seese pop up on AMHQ this morning. Stephanie just gave him a quick shout out on camera as he was just visiting, but it was still nice to see him.

OCMs & Personalities / Kait Parker Leaving TWC
« on: January 09, 2016, 01:20:44 PM »
Kait Parker has announced that this is her final weekend with The Weather Channel.

She's engaged to TWC hurricane expert Michael Lowry, and it doesn't seem like he's leaving the network. It kind of sounds like she's moving on to something different, possibly outside of TV. Best of luck to her.

I wonder who will replace her on AMHQ weekend. I'm really hoping they hire Kelly Cass back full-time... Honestly, for the past several months, it seems like she has been on that show filling in for either Reynolds or Kait almost every week.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

I feel like they should've gone with red-mode LOT8's and the severe weather anthem today... The combination of Christmas music with Tor:con 8 and "Tornado Outbreak" coverage has been kind of odd.

Interesting changes on WUTV tonight: Ryan Davidson has replaced Sarah as the "brains behind the bar," although most of the time he's just working in the background. Sarah's more of an expert now, like Nizol, Parker, and Postel. Alex Wilson does regional forecasts in front of a green screen during the show now. Keith Carson presents the top weather videos of the day. It's getting pretty crowded in that little studio. With all of the people they're using now, it seems like the show should be longer.

OCMs & Personalities / New OCM: Allison Chinchar
« on: November 17, 2015, 08:57:44 AM »
Looks like TWC has picked up another OCM: Allison Chinchar. She's hosting the morning WCL with Chris Warren today. I believe she has worked at WXIA, and some freelancing at CNN. I assuming she's just a freelancer at TWC too. She's also the wife of Mike Bettes, I believe.

TWC has updated the AMHQ website: it now says every day at 5 AM. Hosts are Cantore, Carfagno, Abrams, Rodriguez, Wolf, and Parker. The last two are probably staying on weekends.

Someone asked Anaridis when she'll be on, and she said AMHQ from 5-9am. This is very strange... They haven't announced anything and it starts Monday.

27
Sounds like some changes are happening soon. According to his Twitter, Mark Elliot is getting his 12pm to 3pm timeslot back with Alex Wallace as his cohost starting Monday. And Stephanine Abrams posted a picture today with Jen Carfagno hinting at changes in the mornings with a new show starting Monday. In fact, my DirecTV guide shows "AMHQ Early" from 5am to 7am...

Steph's Instagram post says 6am, though.

I imagine things will be more clear tomorrow...

Everything Else TWC / Re: Weather Channel for Sale
« on: October 28, 2015, 10:49:43 AM »
It is now confirmed that IBM will buy the website and digital apps, not the TV Channel. David Kenny will leave TWC to be with IBM so the TV channel will get a new CEO
http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/following-deal-to-sell-weather-co-assets-to-ibm-weather-channel-will-continue/275861

That article makes it sound like Dave Shull is the CEO of the TV network.

Looking back, this really has been a long time coming. The Weather Company entered a partnership with IBM back in March, and Shull joined the company in March to head up a new TV division. The upcoming "refocus" of TWC's programming probably has a lot to do with this too.

Another source says that the TV network WOULD be included in the sale.

I guess all of this will become more clear soon IF this transaction doesn't fall through. Frankly, I'm not sure how the network could exist by itself, without being attached to the website, app, etc.
