January 25, 2006 - 12:04 PM ET:

Sarah Libby: Now let's take a look at the midwest with Rich.
Rich: Alright, let's head that way.

That proofs that Rich's infamous catchphrase has been around since before he teamed with Sharon.

Sarah really said: "Now let's take a look at (what's going on in) the midwest with Rich."

I was woundering, a year ago over at TWC Classics, I heard that someone was able to find and video tape a WeatherSTAR 3000 shortly before Janurary 1, 2005 -- the day when it was decomissioned by the FCC. The same person that found the 3000 in his area's cable company eventully got it replaced with the XL. The footage still hasn't been posted on this website. Does anyone have video footage of the WeatherSTAR 3000's final days from December 2004?

General Discussion / Re: Your Thoughts On The Emergency Alert System
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:30:02 PM »
The EAS used to freak me out all the time when I was little (even if it was a required monthy test). Before whe the EAS was first used nationwide, we used to have the Emergency Brodcast System. My cable company which was then TCI (now Comcast) used to test the EBS every month on the first Tuesday. Comcast still does this today in my area after when they replaced the EBS.

I even recall that whenever when they use the old EBS durring Emergencys or even if its only a test, the cable company would somehow cut off the signal with a snowy picture and it would play a really loud "whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo" sound through the audio and then all of the TVs would somehow automaticly turn off on its own. I even thought it was sort of cool. My cable company used to do that back in the 80s and 90s before when the EAS came out in our area.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Funny Story From NBC SNL

Here's another SNL skit regarding to TWC. They talk about the 2005 Hurricane Season.

http://snlyou.jt.org/archives/05/05gtwc.phtml

I can't remember that skit, but I've been watching SNL since 2004. I even recall this one skit that they did back in December 2005 that has a group of people trying to eat at a pizza resturant and the door that's near their table keeps blowing open and they try to close the door. At the end of the skit, the customers desides to leave and as they got outside, a blizzard blows them away and it show a message saying "Seasons Greatings from The Weather Channel." It even showed the orginal TWC logo that was used from 1982-1996 (even though it was months after the re-launch). Does anyone remember that skit?
