Yup, there was minor flooding and little wind damage here in Atlantic City, but a tornado did touch down 5 miles northeast. We certainly dodged a major bullet, but I'm  sure Irene was a wake up call to those living on the east coast though

It's almost September, and I hope everyone that has started school or college recently is doing well!  I always hated the first days due to everything being hectic.  What do you all plan to do this upcoming Labor Day weekend?
Panicking.

The tornado sirens are going off here and a tornado warning has been issued 3 counties south. Don't know if I should head to the basement yet as Bergen county is not under a warning yet

Well we just evacuated from Atlantic City and am now in Paramus. Now, we're only 7 miles from the Hudson and there could be possible evacuation orders for some parts of BEgen county too. Now, I'll be real pissed if we have to evacuate yet again...

How far inland can those tsunami waves from Irene travel?

Yea, even though Irene will be considerably weak by then. 3 days with no power for south jersey residents expected
Is it just for the power? I can't recall exactly where you live compared to the track. 3 days isn't that bad.
But we're not prepared for one haha. With no food, no batteries, no candles, little water, no backup generator - you get the point. All roads into Atlantic City are being closed, and people will also be unable to leave the city and points South tomorrow afternoon if they decide to leave. Right now, I don't WANT to evacuate because like I said - it'll mainly be a rain event rather than a wind event but since we're pretty much screwed without power, we gotta move. Another thing that's making this evacuation difficult is  that i cant decide if I'm supposed to be moving into my dorm on Saturday or Monday. They made the move-in date on Saturday instead of Sunday and those who can't make it on Saturday should go on Monday. I can't decide whether to pack for shelter, for my dorm or just toss in whatever I can find. I would've enjoyed Irene had she struck earlier, but she just couldn't decide to come at any better time during the start of the school season.

Also, if anyone (guests, members) are lurking here, DO NOT take the Garden State Parkway. Both southbound and northbound lanes are jammed with traffic. With people evacuating from New York City (Mandatory evacuations in all 5 boroughs), I can't even imagine how bad traffic will get.

We're going to evacuate somewhere towards Philly. Apparently, the casinos can't take their own residents without $.

During the entire 2-day trip from Massachusetts to Florida I had to listen to my father's collection of the Beatles.  I truly went out of my mind.  :sing:
I can't even imagine. The Beatles (IMO) are one of the most over-rated bands of all time.
Agreed. While I do like their music (I wanna  Hold Your Hand, Yellow Submarine), they are overrated in a sense since people often talk about Beatles this, Beatles that.

They might be starting the storm alert music. They mixed up playlist music before the real storm alert music started in the past
