There was an 8" (Just shy of soccer ball size) hail report in SD last year. That is the world record for large hail.

Thanks everyone! It was a very memorable experience.
I had to wake up around 2 AM that morning, and had to be at the studio between 4:30 and 5:15. (I was on air in several segments throughout the 6 AM hour.
