General Discussion / The Front Porch
« on: June 29, 2011, 08:32:34 AM »
From July 3-10, I will not be online as I enjoy a vacation in NC with my family.  We'll be in NC for the 4th and later exploring the Outer Banks.  This trip also marks my completion of one year with the NWS, which is on July 6.  If you need me when I return, please send a PM.  Take care! B)
Have fun and congratulations on your first year at the NWS!

61 and Sunny.

Looks like a heat wave is coming for the weekend! 850 mb temperatures past 20 degrees, you know what that means! (90+ degree temperatures are possible.)

I'm eagerly waiting for the July/August list :P
Yeah, me too. Wouldn't be surprised if it lasts into early July, though.
Friday actually, according to a post a few weeks ago.

I really don't understand why the studio needs upgrades. It looks okay as is.

But yes, it would be good for the IS to get a few updates. It hasn't been touched (other than given the new icons) since September 2008 (I believe.)

Boston, MA Verizon FIOS Metro Map (Looks like a Regional map than anything else) compared to my Comcast New Bedford, MA regional and metro maps
Wow, the Fios metro map is zoomed way out compared the Comcast metro map.

I was digging through the archives and found this text on the 36-hour forecast. I had never seen it before...has anyone else? "Rain....perhaps a rumble of thunder in the afternoon".
I remember seeing that text quite often on my XL a few years ago.

Does anybody remember this website that lets you make weather channel forecasts? http://twcgames.limelightsolutions.com/

Wow, I forgot about that! Thanks for the link, I used to make forecasts on this site all the time!

Someone should tell them about this entire forum, they'd get a hoot out of it. :P
A few TWC employees already know about us, including Adam Berg.

Hahaha...At the 9:20 AM EDT WOYW, Steph showed a picture from DopplerTom, and said something like: "DopplerTom  probably watches the most Weather Channel than anyone else." (Something along those lines.)
And Mike said: "Either him or MartinMMC" :P
