General Weather Chat / Summer 2009 Heat Compared to Summer 2010
« on: August 21, 2010, 10:22:06 AM »
2009:
West Coast: Well above average temps.

East Coast: About average temps.

My area (Monroe, MI): Below average. (exception: June 24-25: mid 90's and high humidity.) I had the third coolest July on record eith a few days not getting out of the 60's.

2010:
West Coast: About average temps.

East Coast: Well above average temps.

My area: Above average. So far the warmest summer on record next to 2005. (I can't believe 1988 doesn't place.  :dunno: )

My Theory:
Last year was an El Nino year but this year is a La Nina year. A ridge of high pressure may have built in a different area due to those effects.

Looks like the severe threat for me today is too low. Any wind shear is well south of me. :hammer: It's cool and drizzling this morning, which definately is not helping the instability and lift for a strong storm. It's about 68 degrees. I'll be lucky if we hit 75 this afternoon with minimal sunshine.

NBCU should've let him stay for at least 30 years.

So long Bill :(

He was looking so happy and stress-free back then knowing he wouldn't get layed-off by TWC's considering owners.

General Discussion / Re: Dish Network: I *may* get it...

I would never get Dish, DirecTV, or U-Verse because I love my WeatherStar Local Forecasts. Plus, I wouldn't get Dish because the reception could get crappy in bad weather.

On Sirius, (last year) I heard:
Mr. Groove by Euge Groove
While the World Slowy Turns by Brian Hughes (live)
Beautiful by Ryan Farish
Slammin' by Jay Soto
Groove Detective by Chris Geith (before March 08)

On smooth jazz music choice, I heard:
Zero Gravity by Chris Geith
Escape by Tom Braxton (x2)
Mr. Groove by Euge Groove
Besame Mucho by Kenny G (x3)
From the Redwoods to the Rockies by Craig Chaquico and Russ Freeman
The Maiden and the Warrior by Craig Chaquico and Russ Freeman
Smiles by Present Tense
Miss Peaches by Kyle Wolverton
Can't Stop the Feeling by Kyle Wolverton
Maybe Tonight by Nestor Torres
House Call by Nestor Torres
Lucky Charm by The Rippingtons

Others:
Last December, when I was shopping, I heard Skating by Vince Guaraldi.

There should be an all-TWC music or an all-Christmas music station on Sirius.

I remember hearing Ryan Farish's "From the Sky" on a radio station this summer. I was so excited to hear the song. :D
I have yet to hear Ryan's music on the radio. I don't any local station that plays it.

Just today, I've heard "Last Train Home" by Pat Metheny at The Cafe At Williams Square.
I love that song!

This is an interesting topic, because I was sitting at a red light about a month ago, and a car in the lane next to me and one car back had their windows open and "Friday's Child" by Bradley Joseph was playing.  I recognized it right away.  Awesome tune.
Maybe they were playing the first TWC Smooth Jazz CD. That song is on there.

October 1.

/Hey, since Walmart* can do it...
Wow! That's nearly 1/4 of a year of Christmas music.  :o

December 17-18. I'm not in the mood for Christmas music yet before then, plus the holiday playlists have always started around that time since 1999. BTW, why is the poll set so it closes on September 30th?
I was kind of thinking about e-mailing the results to TWC on October 1, but I'm starting to think that's not such a good idea. I'll probably leave it running indefinately.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Poll
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:46:30 PM »
I give it a 6. There's just too many changes to keep up with. Their music is alright, but I don't like any vocal music while watching the LOT8's. I can't listen to both Allen Jackson and Lady Gaga or whoever at the same time. :P Plus, all the new technology is taking over the network. But, I just like TWC a lot because it is what I grew up watching. If this poll was in 2002 or 2003, I would give it a 10.

More jazzy songs are on this primetime list, I guess that's a good thing. I like most of the songs on this list.
