General Weather Chat / Re: Summer 2009 Heat Compared to Summer 2010
« on: October 30, 2010, 07:07:22 PM »
Are La Nina summers hotter than average in the midwest, south and eastern U.S.? The summers of 1988, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2007 and this year have been warmer than average for the eastern U.S, in some cases, the south and midwest and in other cases, the south and east coast. All of those summers were either during or just starting a La Nina pattern.
I have noticed a pattern. In the Great Lakes, El Nino summers are cooler and wetter than average, with their winters warmer and drier.

In the Great Lakes, La Nina summers are hotter and drier than normal, with their winters cooler and winter. La Nina years seems to have a higher range of temperatures.

any thoughts on mabie a us hit?
It probably will become a Cat 3 at least, but as for a U.S. hit, still too far off in the future, but Florida looks like the most likely track, (if it's going to hit the U.S.)

it seems NBC 10/NBC Philadelphia has trashed their NBC Plus channel in favor of an "NBC Philadelphia Nonstop" channel with a small weather bar at the top. NY and Chicago have done the same thing.
Of course they have, it's NBC.

Our NBC affliate in Detroit totally dumped the NBC WeatherPlus channel 2 years ago. Now, it's a movie channel.

A song from this month's primetime playlist (don't know the name) played in a DirecTV ad.
Can you get a clip of it? I'll try to ID it.

The pressure in northern MN is up to about 29.9-30", so it looks like this historic system has moved off and is history.

It still is a possibility that a Greek name may be used. There would need to be a few more good convection areas for that. This season was definately stronger than 2009, but not as bad as 1992 or 2005.

Mark Elliot was in the newsroom earlier on WC.

I wish Landmark Communications was still TWC's mother company. But of course, we can only dream that. I hope pre-2005 TWC is having a good time in heaven. :P

I'm at about 1998 technology wise. I have a cheap Tracfone cellphone, a 1985 52" tv, 1987, 1997 27" tv, a cheap Emachines computer.... I have to say I hate all the new technology crap, including on tv/TWC. I wish we could all go back to 1998 technology wise.  :hmm:
