TWC Fan Art / TWCJim's Artwork
« on: November 24, 2011, 09:17:55 PM »
This is what the WeatherStar XL LDL might look like if it were ever used on non-LF programming. I made it to basically match the old XL LDL before the March 2010 IS LDL updates, with a few modifications, of course. Enjoy!

Local Forecast / Just received Trammell's LF CDs...
« on: November 16, 2011, 09:42:47 PM »
After seeing numerous videos online featuring Trammell's LF songs, I decided it was time for me to purchase my copy of the 3-disc set.

I emailed Trammell to see if the CDs were still available and he said they were and he thanked me for my inquiry. A few days later, I sent out the money order. Coincidentally, Trammell mailed out the discs on the same day I mailed out the money order. I received the CDs two days later in the mail. To me, I thought that was pretty quick for a shipment of 3 CDs :)

Anyway, I listened to the CDs and they are fantastic. The artwork on all three discs are pretty swell, and Trammell even signed his name on all of them (see my pics of the discs below.)

In conclusion, if you are reading this, and do not yet have Trammell's CDs, I would strongly encourage you to order your copy of Trammell's CDs, so you can own a piece of TWC LF music history, like I do  B)

On a related note, while asking if the CDs were still available, Trammell said that he is currently working on a new CD of similar music. He hopes to have the new stuff out around Christmastime, and he is looking forward to sharing it with others

EDIT: I was able to get my scanner finally working (whereas before it was broken) so I was able to scan the discs (the previous images were taken from my camera.)

Programming and Graphics / A show from April 2004
« on: November 15, 2011, 11:56:31 AM »
Does anyone recognize this week-long series from April of '04?

Part 1:

StormWeek 2004: Tornado (Part 1 of 6)

Part 2:

StormWeek 2004: Tornado (Part 2 of 6)

This series is called "StormWeek." I've had this show on VHS for a really long time and recently converted the tape to DVD. This happens to be one of my very first TWC recordings ever and I'd thought it might fun to share it with others. I only have Parts 1 and 2 uploaded at the moment but I will upload the rest later. Enjoy :)

Programming and Graphics / Green is Universal Week- November 2011
« on: November 14, 2011, 12:37:48 AM »
Looks like GIU week is underway now. The logos on TWC and Weatherscan are now green, including the transparent long-form TWC logo, which, to me, seems a little creepy...  :hmm:

General Discussion / Gaddafi dead
« on: October 20, 2011, 11:51:42 AM »
Been watching breaking news on CNN that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed in Sirte. Lots of celebrations going on after his death was confirmed.

Here's a link from cnn.com

Local Forecast / I need help identifying this song!
« on: August 30, 2011, 03:31:25 PM »
I'm not sure if this was the correct way to post, but I need some help identifying this song:

Omak, WA WeatherStar 4000 4/1/2007 6:59PM PST

One of the comments I received in the vid said the song was Who's the Bossa by Patrick Yandall, but then I searched another clip on YT with the same song but it's not the same song as what's in this clip. Does anyone what this song might be? It was played during the March and/or April 2007 primetime playlist, if this hint helps.

Thanks,
TWCJim  :)

General Discussion / Recording in HD -- Any advice?
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:02:56 PM »
Hi everybody!

Here's the story:

I'm heading over to my sister's house down in Benton City, WA for a few days, and she and her husband have a Dish Network HD DVR receiver. If they'll let me, I want to record an HD satellite LF clip on the HD TWC channel.

The equipment I'll be using is a Roxio USB A/V device (pic shown) and my laptop which has a USB port. The program I use to record clips doesn't have an option of recording in HD but if I connect the Roxio device to the DN HD receiver, (with permission from my sis and bro-in-law) will my image be in full HD or just letterboxed (I.E., black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.) I just need some tips from those who record the HD TWC since I'm new at this.

Thanks,
TWCJim  :)

Emulator Videos / My own emulator
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:47:52 PM »
I never got around to posting these vids on this forum, but here they are, in ascending order:

First version of my emulator

Birthday Present For socool775- Personalized TWC Forecast For Lansing, MI

This was created exclusively as a present for socool775/Aaron's 18th birthday (just testing it out at the time.)

Second version

ImBoredIIDeath's TWC Emulator- Blowing Sand in LA :P

For this update, I added more slides, as well as some narrations for the CC, radar, text-based and the 3-day forecast.

Current version of my emulator

ImBoredIIDeath's TWC Emulator- Blowing Dust in Spokane :P

For this update, I discontinued the LDL, changed the background to a blue-faded-to-black color background, added a spot for sponsorships, and moved the weather bulletin still to the very beginning, similar to the IntelliStar.

What do you guys think? I might make more emulator vids soon   :)

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Searching for a STAR...
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:53:39 PM »
Hey STAR team

This has been bugging me for some time, but I'll tell you the story.

Last month, I was in Moses Lake, WA to attend a 5-year high school reunion. The motel I stayed at uses the Dish Network TWC feed and not the local feed.

Seeing as though I'll probably never spend another night at a motel in Moses Lake, I was wondering what unit serves this area and what the STAR ID number is. I tried contacting the city's local cable company, Northland Communications, but never heard back from them.

If it's possible, could you tell me what unit serves the Moses Lake, WA area and what it's STAR # is? Any help is certainly appreciated.

Thanks,
TWCJim

PS, I hope this doesn't violate the forum rules. If it does then I apologize.

Local Forecast / Has the L-bar been discontinued?
« on: July 31, 2011, 02:23:28 PM »
I haven't seen this since Thursday. All recent airings of long-form programming show the LDL at :08, :18, etc. instead of all of the time (similar to what is seen on "From the Edge.") Does this mean the L-bar has been discontinued?   :o

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IStar #20894 request
« on: July 12, 2011, 11:24:01 PM »
Hi STAR team

I was wondering if it's possible to change the names of a couple of cities on my 8-city CC product. The two cities I would like changed are:

Colbert, changed to Airway Heights

Fairchild, changed to Fairchild AFB (since it's actually an air base)

Any help is certainly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jim  :)
