Help and Support / Where to get my key?
« on: April 29, 2012, 01:29:07 AM »
I'm new at this and on the Download and Keys page it says "Your key has not been created yet, install the emulator and select 'Get My Key'." I installed the emulator and I cannot find the GMK selection. Where do I need to look for the GMK selection?  :dunno:

General Discussion / My own Weather Channel mix CD
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:45:31 PM »
I have a hobby of making mix CDs of various things, whether it's made up of popular or unpopular music. Well, I recently made a mix of my favorite songs that have played on TWC, consisting of 18 tracks. Here is the list:

1. David Benoit- Botswana Bosa Nova
2. The Dream Academy- Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
3. Sublime- What I Got [Instrumental Version]
4. Booker T and the MGs- Green Onions
5. Maserati- Monoliths
6. R.E.M.- Winged Mammal Theme
7. David Holmes- 11, 12 and 13
8. The Smiths- Oscillate Wildly
9. Pink Floyd- Terminal Frost
10. Norman Brown- After the Storm
11. Vincent Ingala- Lost in You
12. Herbie Hancock- Rockit
13. Ramsey Lewis Trio- The In Crowd
14. Eric Johnson- Cliffs of Dover
15. Herb Alpert- Route 101
16. Physical Therapy- Wishbone
17. Moby- God Moving Over the Face of the Waters
18. The Swing Cats featuring Johnny Ramone- Viva Las Vegas

What do you guys think?

Now, I cannot post any download links of this mix on this forum because it would be a violation of the rules. But, if anyone would like to give it a shot, you can gather the tracks from anywhere you can find, whether it's from the internet or from a CD, and create this mix CD for yourself.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Weatherscan #20282 glitch
« on: April 16, 2012, 11:20:41 AM »
Hi STAR team

I woke up this morning, and I saw that the Weatherscan here in Spokane has been jumpy, skipping frames every few seconds or so, similar to what it had done a few months ago. Can this be looked into?

Thanks,
Jim

General Discussion / Comcast TV guide infoboxes
« on: April 12, 2012, 07:07:31 PM »
On the guide, I've seen several shows that just tell you the info of the show and not the show episode. For example, for a syndicated run of the sitcom "Two and a Half Men," the infobox will tell you "A hit sitcom built on often-raunchy material starring Charlie Sheen and, later, Ashton Kutcher."

Does this come from a source, or are the cable headend techs just too lazy to enter in the episode info in the infobox of the shows on the guide?

General Discussion / Weird TV channel I've discovered...
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:39:20 PM »
WTF?!? What channel is this?!?

I recorded this clip from my motel room earlier today. Looks like some sort of heart monitor. Maybe it's from the Charter cable headend building in Astoria? Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Local Forecast / Songs you want to hear again on the LF

What songs you've heard on the LF in the past would you like to hear again?

Note to the admins: I was unable to find a similar topic, unless I'm wrong. If a similar topic exists, please let me know and post a link to that topic and lock this one  ;)

General Discussion / Comcast/Xfinity Weather
« on: March 20, 2012, 11:46:20 PM »
Been meaning to ask this, but does anyone know where Comcast gets their weather forecasts from?

I've been checking out the local forecast option on the main menu recently and the weather forecasts don't exactly match the ones I see on the local news or on TWC (for example, everyone says rain but Comcast says snow.)

This has been bugging me for a while. Any ideas on what and/or where the Comcast weather source might be?

General Discussion / An error on my IntelliStar's ad scroll...
« on: March 03, 2012, 12:49:07 AM »
Pretty sure this wouldn't fit under the LF discussion category, but here I go...

I caught this typo on my IS's ad scroll. The business is supposed to be called "The Ugly Duck" (a local lumber liquidation warehouse in Spokane, WA) but on the ad scroll it lists it as "The Ugly Dick."

I want to report the error, but who do I report it to? Does anybody know who controls what gets put on the IS ad crawls?

Hi STAR team

I woke up this morning and saw that Spokane's Weatherscan's video feed is jumping and skipping frames about every couple of seconds or so. I recorded a clip of the glitch:

Can this be fixed somehow?

General Discussion / My good samaritan story...
« on: December 05, 2011, 11:14:42 PM »
I had to share this story, so I'll tell you what happened...

Me and my girlfriend, Kaydi, were getting groceries at a local Fred Meyer store here in Spokane. When we got out of our car, there was a young woman, named Stephanie, sitting in the passenger side of her truck parked nearby, crying. She asked us if we had a cell phone or some money for a payphone. She had left her wallet back at home in Deer Park and was low on gasoline and needed to call a relative to go get her wallet.

We felt really bad, and would do anything to help Stephanie. So we ran inside to get some quick groceries, and then came back out and she was still there. I attempted to give her $5 but she told me that we didn't have to do that. Then Kaydi and I talked to her about that it was the least we could do. Then Stephanie accepted and she thanked us for our help. We then told her where the nearest gas station was after she asked us and that she was unfamiliar with the area. She then told us that when she was going into the Fred Meyer prior to us arriving there, she was told that no one was allowed to use the payphones. "People were abusing the payphones, whatever that means," she was told by the workers inside the store.

Stephanie then thanked us again and offered to give her our phone number and pay us back later. We said that she didn't have to worry about that. She then drove her truck to the gas station we mentioned, and we sort of followed her to make sure she got there okay. We certainly hope she was able to reach her relatives, and hopefully her wallet.  ;)

So that's my story. It kinda affected Kaydi and I pretty bad so I had to share it everybody.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / STAR #20894 audio error
« on: December 03, 2011, 08:54:04 PM »
Hi STAR team

I can't hear any sound coming from the right audio channel on the STAR for Spokane. The left audio channel seems to be OK, though.

Here is a video with the error:

Can this be looked into?

Cheers,

Weatherscan Discussion / Weatherscan on Dish Network
« on: November 25, 2011, 10:45:06 PM »
It's been about 5 months since Dish added Weatherscan to their lineup in Arizona, Utah, and Oklahoma. Any idea when Wxscan will roll out to other states, like here in Washington state? I'm guessing maybe it was only for the three aforementioned states?  :dunno:
