@Kyle: You think it's a tally light? It looks like some type of furniture to me; you can even see it lit behind the OCMs when the desk is rotated that way; it seems to be lit at all times.

@Mike: You actually saw the couch behind the OCMs? I thought that was just the shape of the back wall there (which can sometimes look like a seat). I know we did see the couch positioned there when they were showing off the set on YWT, and it's kinda sad that nothing ever came of it. Has the idea just been scrapped outright?

Contributions / DirecTV LF clips
« on: October 09, 2008, 07:44:31 AM »
Now that I'm back at home, I finally get to watch a somewhat real LF on my own TV. ^_^

Here's a clip of the two minute LF; I never realized that they had a Regional 3-day Forecast; that's a pretty neat feature.

Here's a 1:30 LF preceded by me messing with the interactive feature; notice how you can view regional radars from all across the U.S. by using the arrow buttons. I still don't get why they don't put the current sky conditions on the interactive feature, though.

That's what it looks like! (thanks to the control room sourcing the wrong camera last night)

So, what is that on the floor? There appears to be a platform for the couch (that hasn't been there since day one), but what is that yellow-lit thing? Is it a small table or something?

TWC called, they want their Hillary Andrews back. <_<

Anyway, as for Wx+, I never cared for it; it got old in a hurry as repetitive as it was. I guess it was useful for a quick check on the weather, though.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Holiday Inn Logo?
« on: October 09, 2008, 01:49:11 AM »
Yes, this logo was added about a month or two ago, likely so viewers know that what they are seeing is the LOT8's and not an OCM segment. I think it was a great idea.

I think it's mainly done for the new DirecTV LF; it automatically makes that rectangle up there transparent, so I'm think they wanted to fill it with something during every LF.

As for the Weekly Planner Holiday Inn logo, I've seen it multiple times over the past few days. I'm thinking that they're trying to implement a sponsor logo for the national segments again, but without the convenience of the key wall maps, I think they're having a hard time figuring out how to implement it; the other day, the logo was blocking Carl's head, and it was promptly removed.

Local Forecast / Re: Trammell Sightings

Just now after the 1:25 CT segment, the commercial came on, but the LDL was still on; a few seconds later, the national feed blacked out for about 10 seconds before the emergency feed kicked in for maybe 5 seconds; then the commercials came back, and the LDL went away.

Why is this in TWC|HD anyways? Is this show available in HD only?

No, it should probably be moved to the Everything Else TWC board or the Programming board.

1. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about it seeming fresh out of the 2003-2005 era.

2. That's doubtfully the actual theme music; it seems like production music.

I'm thinking it's just production music; they've used a different music track every single day so SW so far

(SW = Sunrise Weather, finally a new show abbreviation! :P)

Why was EE on at 8PM ET? :dunno: I thought PM Edition Weekend was supposed to be on at that time, and Carl even called it PM Edition. Does this have something to do with the new WWCH?

Yes, they want EE to air at the same time on weekdays and weekends, and with this WWCH-related schedule change, they decided to start EE at 7 PM CT on all days of the week.

According to the Zap2It guide, which tends to be most accurate for TWC, yes, EE is scheduled for 7 PM CT.

This makes no sense... could this mean that Adam and Kristin won't be hosting EE? But if not, then who would?

I certainly am thinking that them hosting EEWC is out of the question at this point. One of them might do it solo on alternating nights, or maybe even Cheryl Lemke will return to the slot.
It could be back to the old schedule... having Carl/Kristina host WWC and then the 7 PM CT hour of EE, and have Adam/Kristin host the 5 PM CT hour of PME and then the 9 PM CT hour of EE and EEWC.

Supposedly there's also a live 10 PM CT hour of EE plus EEWC at Midnight CT just like the weekday schedule. That would be a big load for Adam and Kristin. I don't see why they wouldn't just start them at 7 PM CT for EE and have them go from there...

As I was thinking, now that TWC is under the new schedule, Sunrise Weather officially launched today with a corresponding graphic on the LCD screen and a mention of it by Ray Stagich in the introductory script.

Oddly, there was no "open" today - just a full screen logo with the First Outlook teaser music playing. All other graphics remain unchanged from WO.

Edit: It also has it's own logo bug in the lower left; I'm recording, so just tell me if there's anything you want. I'll tell you if there's anything worthwhile after the show...

Edit 2: No Ray, it's not Weekend Outlook, it's Sunrise Weather.

Edit 3: No Ray, the times on the baseball forecasts are local time, not Eastern. Gang guy would also not appreciate how you just brushed over the college football information. :P
