Everything Else TWC / Re: New Weekly Planner maps
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:04:28 PM »
What about people just to the west of that map that live in the Central time zone; many of them are up for work at 4-5 AM, yet they're not being covered at all. Houston, the 4th largest city in the country, is even left out.

He's probably referring to either the forecast center or the Forecast Earth desk.
I'm just making a sarcastic comment there. :P

Anyway, Weather Center is back to three hours today, and it's back at the little desk. I wonder if this was prompted by the severe weather in the forecast or if it was a planned change.

Kevin Robinson just gave us news from the "Weather Department of The Weather Channel". What, is that separate from the main part of TWC, the climate hype department?

Everything Else TWC / New Weekly Planner maps
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:52:36 AM »
Today, TWC launched some asinine Weekly Planner maps for First Outlook that focus on only the areas east of the Mississippi River, and YWT launched a version of the planner that makes the maps of the whole country almost impossible to see, with only the precip map for the east of the Mississippi being enlarged.

Chris Hoitsma is getting feedback about this right away; this is pretty much the stupidest idea I've seen in a long time.

Sharon: Now let's take it to Rich; he's got much more on the Northeast.

Rich: Oooook, let's do so.

Just now...

Rich: Let's stay with the fall theme and take it back to Sharon with some pictures.

Sharon: That sounds like a plan.

Hopefully I'll have time to look for more information later. In the meantime, anybody else got any info?

Ol' Jimmy is back tonight for EE, and apparently it *is* just going to be him and Paul doing the show for the foreseeable future.

Local Forecast / Ad I saw... Local on the 8s on DISH?
« on: October 20, 2008, 02:03:41 AM »
I saw an ad tonight and last night featuring Jim Cantore claiming that DISH has an actual Local on the 8s in addition to the interactive feature. Is this true, or it is still just the interactive feature?

I like the PME theme, but it doesn't seem to have much depth besides the starting portion followed by the same part repeating over and over again. Is there more to it that I haven't heard?

BTW, I don't mind the bumper music playing over the openers; it's the production music playing over the openers that I absolutely hate.

Well, this feels awkward. :ermm:

What;s so awkward about it? They can do it but I can't?

No, not that; just surprised that we're sorta back to where we started. :P

They had alternate music playing over the Weekend Now Intro.
No, that was by accident. For some reason on Weekend Now (and I've noticed this on PM Edition lately as well) they don't play the opener music very often, and instead, just continue the music they used for the teaser over the opener.
They've also been doing this a lot on First Outlook lately (including Mon-Wed this week) and over half the time on Weekend View. It's pretty sloppy doing things this way, IMO.
