I don't like the EE logo as much, but I think the YWT logo is beautiful.

I have to question the decision to have Cantore in the field for the first EE in HD; I'd rather have the whole gang in studio on the first day. I guess they want to show off their new HD field uplink, though.

...and based on the language in that article, I wonder if the "Yeah, let's do that" show might go HD at the same time. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

There. Sexy new map in that YWT pic.

So, what do we all think of the new Evening Edition logo. It almost looks a bit "tabloid"-y to me, like something you'd see on Fox News.

At any rate, I really wish EE would reinvent itself for the new era and return to its old self. The show's format has been getting worse and worse since Alexandra came aboard.

They just used a wide shot of the Studio 1A desk at 8:55 CT, and it looks like they still actually have ornamental lighting on the floor in front of the desk. This is the first time in months they've ever panned the camera out far enough to see it, though.

@ Billy

I noticed the same thing last night, as well. It was bright again for the daytime shows, but they seemed to turn the lights down again for EE. Most notably, the pillars are a much darker blue right now; doesn't look very good in HD, IMO. The set looked beautiful this morning.

Programming and Graphics / Abrams & Bettes format change
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:59:44 PM »
Tonight, it looks like Abrams & Bettes has switched back to the format where there's a long segment at :40 and two short segments at :50 and :54, much like the current YWT/EE format. I didn't see the first part of the show, so I don't know how they're doing the Weekly Planner now, but the :54 segment is now nothing but a check in with the EE crew and a preview of the next edition of A&B. It kind of destroys the discussion buildup that used to lead into the EE toss, so I wonder if there's going to be less discussion between the A&B crew and the EE crew with the new format.

I could've sworn it was different, but I think quite a few songs carried over between months.

Now today Kevin was alongside Cheryl. I wonder if Jennifer is gone yet.

Yeah, it looks like they strip the studio down to everything but the blue walls with a monitor, table, and chairs. I'm curious why that "cut-out" square to the left (visible on the one-person shot of the person in the left chair) is green when during Weekend View, you can see ceiling lights through it.

Yet another anchor pairing reunion today as Kevin Robinson is filling for Carl and therefore is working alongside Kristina.

Yeah, I hate the Cantore segments with the huge framed map and the enormous RIGHT NOW WEATHER banner on the bottom of the screen. They serve no functional purpose.

Adam Berg just mentioned at the end of EE that Kristin will be hosting EEWC tonight. That's really odd.

Not really. She ought to be the Saturday night anchor for now on while Adam will do EEWC every Sunday night. That's a win in my book.

OCMs & Personalities / Yet another anchor swap?
« on: May 17, 2008, 08:06:43 PM »
Today, Carl and Kristina were back together again on Weekend Weather Center while Adam is working with Kristin on PME/EE. Also, it looks like Cheryl Lemke has permanently assumed Swizzle Stick's old job on weekend mornings & Mon-Wed. morning fill-in.

Quite interesting to see Carl and Kristina back together again. If this holds true, then this swap has managed to reunite two classic anchor pairings that were destroyed through previous switches; I'd say it's for the better.
