The DISH website claims they offer TWC HD.

Fully live EEWC now. Why couldn't they preempt, though?

Really? That's odd that it wouldn't affect everyone. You'd think DirecTV and Dish would see the same problems occurring in this case.

They're not preempting; that's for sure. It's getting quite annoying, especially considering it's a weekday, and the preemption call should be given without question.

Why did they use four different OCMs on a solo schedule?

Sometimes lights burn out in a none-too-friendly manner. (A time where a light caught fire at CNN Headline News comes to mind; they evacuated the studio for that incident when it happened several years ago.)

You need to keep in mind that such an incident is relatively rare. 99.99999% of the time bulbs burn out peacefully. As proof, find me another time when a bulb caused a disruption at a TV station.

Well, back when they were in studio 1B this past fall, the light lighting up the right side of the Global Forecast Center banner flickered constantly for several hours; as a result, they had to use the temporary camera angle from the side of the desk until the light was finally put out of its misery.

Today as First Outlook begins, we now see that two of the three lights above the big backdrop have burned out since EEWC, which, in fact, might have been the cause of the final two segments of EEWC to be disrupted.

I know they don't have much time left on the set, but some some shows ought to still be there during the summer months, and the set is starting to look worse and worse by the week as lights continue to burn out and not be repaired. I know TWC probably didn't want to have to do any further repairs on Studio 1A, but at some point, they need to buckle down and just do the needed repairs. The set is starting to look horrible.

Hmm, you'd think that we would hear Trammell and not complete silence during that outage. I wonder if yesterday's satellite LF update somehow broke the emergency feed/Trammell music?

I thought the same thing as well; although I do believe the emergency feed has played in the past without music.

It looks like they've completely lost the live studio broadcast. Oh well, that's a wrap on live programming, right? (Unless they went live earlier; I wasn't home to watch)

And that answers a few things...

1) Yeah, the emergency feed has the new look.
2) Yeah, it still says "Additional forecasts at weather.com" in white underneath the LDL; the "weather.com" text underneath the logo is blue on the Daypart and 3-Day products.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Yet another anchor swap?
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:05:53 AM »
TWC definitely could use some more OCMs. Five OCMs (including Jennifer) have left since 2006, but only one new OCM (Samantha) had joined since that year.

Plus you have to count the in house folks they moved to the television side, including Betty Davis, Kevin Robinson, etc. etc.

Those two hired to be on television. Alex Wallace would be a better example of an insider moved to TV.  Who knows if Ray Stagich will wind up going full-time TV ever, but he certainly has contributed nonetheless.

Only YWT and EE are going HD on June 2nd. All other shows will probably stay in their old studios for the time being. Nothing else is in the new building, as far as I know. It's just a studio, I believe.

Here's a cap from the end of the YWT promo:

And a video...
