Everything Else TWC / Re: New Graphics for all shows

After a long pause at the end of the first hour of EEWC's teaser, they played the opener music over a "title card" to start the show; they must've had a problem calling up the opener for some reason.

Bonus points to whoever can tell me who was the female anchor of EE the last time they used a title card as an opener.

They showed that one during regular EE, as well. Even for the HD feed, they used pillar boxes and completely cut off the graphics. Apparently the right hand isn't talking to the left in terms of these Road Crew segments.

Damn, that's a short dress she's wearing tonight. Normally you don't see dresses/skirts that short on TWC these days.

I have an HP dv9815 that I just got the day before Memorial Day. Everything's nice so far except for the fact that the mousepad driver doesn't allow you to middle click by pressing the left and right buttons simultaneously. I was actually going to buy a cheaper Toshiba, but I found out that Toshiba and Sony don't even offer scrolling on their mousepads, and that's a must, so I went with this HP, my second choice.

Also, it's a 17" widescreen, so there's a numberpad on the right side of the keyboard; it's all well and good, but I'm a bit disturbed by the right-hand "shift" key only being the size of a regular key on the keyboard with the Up arrow just to the right of it. All too often I mess up while typing and hit either the up arrow or the backslash key just to its left. I really hope I get used to it eventually.

BTW, It has a 200GB HD and 3 GB of memory. It was either $949 or $999; I can't remember which.

It looked like Dave was wearing one of these this morning:

My thoughts and prayers are still with him and his family that he's going to be all right. Long live Dave!

It's not on the desktop; it's coming from the system tray.

While doing the Weekly Planner, Adam had Viz|Weather mess up on him and keep regenerating the Saturday Forecast map instead of moving forward.

On another note, the maps he was presenting were precip maps with the city indicators removed. Instead, the map displayed selected high temperature ranges (i.e. 80s, 90s, 100s) displayed inside translucent boxes.

Everything Else TWC / Can somebody explain the thinking behind this?
« on: June 05, 2008, 04:14:39 PM »
Just a few seconds ago, they brought in reporter Julie Martin at the Expert Desk to interview the Storm Prediction Center. Why would they bring in a reporter for this? Wouldn't having a meteorologist do the interview with the SPC make a lot more sense?

I've seen that before. Isn't it on their jobs page?

You are correct, sir.

For some reason, Viv and Sam are working together today, and they just displayed the two person L3 identifying Sam as "Samantha Mohr" and identifying Viv as "Samantha Mohr Brown".

Seeing how First Outlook is now two anchors all three hours, I wonder if Weekend Outlook is the same way now. We'll have to see.

It's not anymore; for some reason they just did it that one day for no apparent reason. the first hour is back to being master controlled with only one anchor.

Is Cheryl Lemke just a fill-in for First Outlook now? I think Cheryl and Jen make a better team than Jen and Jeff.

Really? I didn't like that pairing very much.

Apparently Eboni Deon has been trained on the HD studio as a fill-in; she's filling in for Nicole today. The other possibility is that she's not trained for it; we'll see if she purposely stays away from the projector wall today.

I could've sworn I heard Nicole sounding a little raspy yesterday. If so, this has to be a worst case scenario for TWC unless they did indeed prep Eboni in the Studio in case this very thing happened.

The "Check in with Your Weather Today" returned today at the end of First Outlook, but they never did show Heather full-screen; they only showed her in the two-split.

I wonder if we'll also see the other two "check-ins" return today: PM Edition to Abrams & Bettes as well as Abrams & Bettes to Evening Edition.
