I don't trust that the big TWC logo is an LCD display; I know the tour claims it is, but the pictures on the site seem to make it out to be a static image.

During YWT this morning, they did a teaser going to break with Heather standing in front of the LCD monitor in the interview area that now serves as the background for the PME anchors. She was using the monitor that's just off to the right of the normal PME 2-person shot, but all of the lights except for the key lights on Heather were off. It looked pretty neat; I think we're starting to see more and more of the cool shots they can do with the new studio.

On another note, I'm wondering if the couch is ready yet since it's obviously not in the studio during PME or YWT. Either the couch can be removed when not in use, or it's not in place yet. The Weekend View HD premiere is only one weekend away, so you'd think it's probably in place for rehearsals by now.

If they'd fix the projector wall, and everyone were able to watch the HD feed, it would all be good. :P

It probably is; it's just getting really annoying.

Does anyone know why exactly Frank Batten wants to sell TWC?
As far as I know, he wants to cash in on his assets.

Mike, that was definitely a canned message you got there; I got the exact same message verbatim during a severe weather outbreak in May. Here's what I got today...

Hello Steve,

Thank you for contacting The Weather Channel Interactive.

I will forward your email message, expressing your disappointment with the
recent increase in long-form programming features on the network, during the
afternoon block (2pm - 4pm EDT) to our producers and programming directors.
Needless to say, it greatly concerns us that these additions to our
programming line-up have negatively impacted your TWC viewing experience.

We are always happy to hear from our viewers and hope you will continue to
watch The Weather Channel for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Chris Hoitsma
Solutions Center/TWC

I guess I'll see what happens...

The HD feed is getting a little wonky right now. The pillar bars are completely gone right now, and during the last LF, the Severe Weather Warnings page had a frame and a title bar, but inside the frame, it was completely black - no map or anything - just blackness.

Oh, and not only is there new FO theme music, but the opener has also been changed to the blue and orange color scheme of the WO opener as opposed to the all-orange look.

I see they're using the same Independence Day opener as last year, including the old four-note chime.

There was kind of a weird one at 10:01/12:01 CT.

Sharon: Now let's go over to Rich to see what's going on in different parts of the country...

Rich: Yeah, let's...uh...do that and...uh...see what's going on.

:offtopic:

Are there pre-recorded teasers on YWT? And is it always Heather giving the live teaser? On videos I've seen of YWT, there is a live teaser with Heather only.
No, the teasers are live on YWT. Not sure about who does the teasers - I don't see YWT that often.

It seems like Heather does them every day; she has done them every day I've watched.

The PME desk is essentially in the same place it always is; it's just rotated.

The key walls aren't good in the HD studio, pretty much because of what wxmediafan said. Earlier tonight, Sam wasn't respecting safe zones whatsoever and was standing completely in the 16:9-only zone on the right side of the screen.
