Everything Else TWC / Re: The Weather Channel | HD Discussion

The problem happened on the national feed as well. I have to wonder if it's related to the problem with the HD LF that I reported on the Tech Support board on TWCC; I would imagine that such a problem might originate in Network Control; I would think that the HD Satellite LF would originate the same way that the SD one does.

The HD feed on DirecTV just went nuts again during the last LF and at the start of the EE segment. There were colored bars traveling up and down the screen like crazy, and there was no audio; after a while, that stopped, and then the picture started jumping around the screen. After that stopped, the audio came back, and the image started rotating with solid purple, aqua, and green screens. It got better for about a minute, but then the traveling bars started up again for about another minute until the problem was finally solved for good. Was DirecTV messing around with their satellites again?
I believe that would have been something downsteam of master between that point, and transmission at DirecTV. I want to say its a STAR rebooting, because the output card usually shows / flashes color bars upon rebooting for a split / a couple of seconds. Was there any sort of clicking, or popping sound?
There may have been those noises, but I'm not sure. At any rate, I thought there wasn't a STAR involved on the HD feed.

So, how did EEWC go on Wednesday night? Was it just three hours long, or was the 3AM long-form block pre-empted?

Just three hours. :(

I have to agree with what Dave said as well; the segment isn't even *just* about delays.

I didn't think any shows had their own music for the Global Forecast at this point.

I actually managed to tune the episode out while sitting here in my favorite pair of shorts. That was wicked awesome! I hope I get to do it again!

I did for being late in freshman and sophomore years for HS. I cleaned up my act after that. :P

Glad to hear that you're okay, Kyle. A green sky? Neat! But that is normally a sign of a tornado. I saw a stick stinking up from the ground in my back yard. It happened this past spring in a storm.

Shoulda given it an air freshner!  :rofl2: :rofl2:

Glad to hear you're okay, Kyle. That sounds like a scary situation.

Ugh, I may have to change the channel. I don't think I can handle hearing about the kid getting struck by lighting in his shorts again.

Tonight on EE, Carl Parker began the first Weekly Planner with his signature Jet Stream forecast and then suggested to people dealing with mosquitoes as a result of flooding that they buy some bats (as in the animals) since they eat mosquitoes. Gotta love Carl!

For some reason, the cut of music that plays with the standalone A&B opener is really screwed up; it's like there are two tracks playing at once, making it sound horrible.

The national programming is the SD feed it's just pillarboxed with the |HD| logo that's all.
Except for the shows that are broadcasting in HD. ;)
Which is about 69.6% of the weekday programming, soon to be 100% within a few weeks; I'd say that's worth it.

It finally happened at 11:00 PM/1:00 AM CT! Thanks Rich!

Sharon: We're going to take a look back at this stormy Wednesday and look ahead to your Tuesday...I mean your Thursday. Let's not go backwards in the week please.

Rich: (laughing) No, let's not do that.

Extended version of Evening Edition at 11 PM ET. Looks like we might see only three live hours of EEWC tonight.
Actually, they may do 4 (the 2 AM CT hour which is normally long-form programming) -that may be why they're doing an extended version of regular EE.
I'm thinking this as well.
