It's actually picked up speed, and now it looks like landfall will be mid-morning tomorrow. I don't think anyone expected that.

COASTAL STORM SURGE FLOODING AND WAVES ALONG THE COAST OF WESTERN
CUBA SHOULD CONTINUE TO SUBSIDE.  A STORM SURGE OF 1 TO 3 FEET

Yes, that's exactly what you're hearing. My guess is that they're doing the playback a little less professionally than usual because of the unique setup tonight.

BTW, my friend, have you noticed that they've been using different lower thirds for the OCMs for the day two days or so; these L3s are more squared off on the right side, presumably to completely cover up the Gustav ticker so that there isn't a little corner of it sticking out when the L3s are on the screen.

You can still see that red podium reflecting off of the pillar to the left of the desk on the HD feed; how eery.

(BTW, I'm back home for the weekend, so I'm watching and recording the entirety of the coverage in HD; the only downfall is that I have to change discs every four hours, and I want to be awake at 7 AM ET in anticipation of Storm Alert, so my sleep tonight will have to be very strategic. >_<
