Local Forecast / Re: What do you want to return to the LF
« on: March 04, 2016, 10:59:14 PM »

Return of the analog signal.

Return to analog not going to happen (too fuzzy on a new TV). I think digital looks better (clear as a bell).
I would like 2-minute forecasts to return.
I would also like TWC to launch as a digital subchannel on local broadcast TV stations, just like HSN and QVC did on Ion.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Is cable TV going downhill?
« on: March 04, 2016, 10:46:58 PM »
If cable is going downhill that bad, maybe they should re-launch The Weather Channel as both a cable/satellite TV network and digital subchannel. It could give WeatherNation a run for their money. I could see a couple of Ion affiliates pick up TWC as one of their digital subchannels like they did with QVC and HSN, which also have cable TV counterparts. Each TWC affiliate could also be given an Intellistar 2 jr to utilize for their Local on the 8s forecasts, which would originate from each Ion affiliate's city of license.

Local Forecast / Re: Weatherstar 4000 Locations that remain

Here's another Star 4000 that remains, this one located in Ladysmith, Wisconsin:
Chazz' 31st Birthday Gift - Ladysmith, WI - Weatherstar 4000

I'm going to stick around until Green Bay, Wisconsin's WeatherStar 4000 is found.

That is a unit in which the user is manipulating the IDs to pull different configs. It is not an actual unit from WI

I would like the user to manipulate it so that it is set to Green Bay. I haven't seen a 4000 in Green Bay since 1999.

Anytime in the 1990s.

Most of the focus was on the weather, and the Local Forecasts were generated by the WeatherSTAR 4000 (or a STAR XL in the late '90s) if you lived in a large city, or a STAR 3000, or Jr. if you lived in a small town. Other segments included Business/Weekend Travel Forecasts, Tropical Updates, and Business Planners.

Everything Else Classic TWC / The Weather Channel in Pop Culture
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:15:46 AM »
I've watched all kinds of TV shows and movies, and a few of them contain references to, mention, or product placement involving The Weather Channel. One example is in the 1989 movie "Back to the Future Part II", in the year 2015, in the McFly House, Marty McFly, Jr. watches the TV in the den, watching up to six channels at the same time. A futuristic version of The Weather Channel's logo is featured on channel 247.

Marty Jr.: "Art off! Okay, I want channels 18, 24, 63, 109, 87, and The Weather Channel."

Here's a picture of the 2015 The Weather Channel logo:

I am surprised that nobody has found a Star 4000 for Wisconsin, yet. I know there might possibly be a few scattered around Green Bay and Appleton, in places like Pulaski, Seymour, or Oconto.
Oconto most likely sees 24808 out of Marinette and Menominee.
No, they don't.

I specifically remember a STAR 3000 with observations for Green Bay in Oconto back in 1994, at a time when Green Bay had the STAR 4000. Oconto most likely sees Intellistar 24804 out of Green Bay because they're part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. Peshtigo probably sees a STAR system with observations for Marinette because they are closest to Marinette. I also remember seeing a STAR 4000 in Oconto Falls, WI from 1994 to 1996, a STAR 3000 in Gillett, WI in 1997, and a STAR Jr. in Pulaski, WI in 1998. All of those STAR systems had observations for Green Bay, WI.

The Weather Channel's studios in Atlanta, Georgia also have a few WeatherStar 4000s as well as the other remaining Weather Star systems, including the Jr., the XL, the Intellistar, and the Intellistar 2.

I'm wondering if there's any of these WeatherStar 4000 systems in use near Green Bay, Wisconsin. If there are, they would most likely be found in some small towns in northern Brown County, Shawano County, and southern Oconto County.

Here are some possible WeathereStar 4000 locations:
Pulaski, Wisconsin (They had had a Star Jr in 1998, when I lived there, it's possible that they upgraded to the 4000)
Oconto, Wisconsin (I lived here in 1994-1995 when they had a Star III, it's possible that they upgraded to a 4000 or XL.)
Gillett, Wisconsin (Had a Star III when I lived there in 1996-1998, it is possible they upgraded to the 4000 when the III was decommissioned in 2004, since their population is lower than 2,000)
Clintonville, Wisconsin (Formerly had a WeatherStar III, unsure if they upgraded to a 4000 or Jr.)
Bonduel, Wisconsin (I'm unsure about this one...)
Oconto Falls (When I lived here from 1994 to 1996, they had a WeatherStar 4000, it is pssible that they upgraded to an XL.)
