Programming and Graphics / Re: TWC's Retro 8s Live
« on: June 28, 2023, 08:18:32 PM »
This is cool to see! One of the best things TWC has done in a while.

It would be nice to have it run throughout the entire overnight instead of just one hour.

I still come here from time to time. Was wondering what had happened when I tried to come here a few weeks ago and nothing would load.

OCMs & Personalities / Jeanetta Jones

Very sad news - former OCM Jeanetta Jones - who left TWC in late 2006 after suffering a brain injury in a car accident - has passed away from COVID-19, according to social media posts: https://twitter.com/jameysingleton/status/1427457322557845504

She was one of my favorite OCMs back when I first started watching TWC. Rest in peace, Jeanetta. :(

General Weather Chat / Re: 2020 is the new 2005
« on: November 09, 2020, 10:59:19 PM »
We officially have surpassed 2005's record for the most named storms with the formation of Subtropical Storm Theta in the open Atlantic.

While we have had a record number of named storms, the number of hurricanes and major hurricanes falls short of 2005's records. 2020 has seen 12 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes, compared to 2005s 15 hurricanes and 7 majors. Still, this has been an impactful and destructive year, with a record-setting 12 named storms making landfall in the continental United States, breaking the record of 9 set in 1916.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Laura

The hurricane is still continuing to strengthen... now up to 150 MPH! Unbelievable. Reminds me of what happened with Michael in 2018... this may very well continue to strengthen until landfall.

Hurricane Central / Hurricane Laura
« on: August 26, 2020, 03:31:02 PM »
Hurricane Laura has rapidly intensified into a monster Category 4 storm with 140 MPH winds, and is taking aim at the eastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts.

The NHC key messages for this storm says it all:

(click for current version)

I hope that all who are in the projected path for this storm have evacuated and will be safe. This no doubt is going to be a historic and horrific event, unfortunately. :(

TWC Today News / Re: Some changes on the Forum

Looks good to me! I do like the idea about a home page integrated with the board.

I definitely think a visual re-theme for the board is needed and long overdue.

General Discussion / Re: NYC Climate March: The Aftermath
« on: September 23, 2019, 11:50:46 PM »
To clarify, this is not from this past weekend's climate march. This was in 2014. (Date of article is 22 September 2014)

That being said it's still disgusting to see this. And unfortunately it's this kind of thing, which certainly isn't representative of this cause as a whole, that make people not take climate change as serious of an issue that it is.

Great to hear from you as well. I’m glad that even though this website’s founder unfortunately died, the site didn’t go and is still going strong.
The founder of the site was actually Gary (lfmusiclover), not Martin. The site was transferred to Martin's ownership in April 2009 when Gary was no longer able to pay for the site.

Hey Victor. Great to hear from you.

I still come here daily and keep an eye on things, but I haven’t been active in the community in years, mainly due to the fact that my interest in TWC is basically non-existent these days.

Just thought I'd stop by and mention: today marks the 10 year anniversary of TWCT opening its doors. :) Almost hard to believe it has been that long already.

Local Forecast / Re: Smooth Jazz Return!
« on: May 12, 2017, 08:46:53 PM »
I agree with Matt. I check here on a somewhat regular basis but I rarely post anymore. My interest in TWC and LOT8s has faded over the years. I'm an adult now, I don't really have time watching TWC all the time let alone posting online about it. I only turn on TWC when I have a few minutes to spare or during severe weather. Between TWC not being too interesting to me anymore, LOT8s being the same everywhere you go now, and adult stuff to take care off, TWC has taken a back seat in my life. That being said I will continue to check in here on a regular basis and post when I see fit.
That's exactly how I've felt about it for the longest time, Tyler. As with you I always check in at least once a day to keep tabs on the boards, but I rarely have the time or the interest in TWC to really participate as much as I did back in the day. It's not that I don't care about the site; it's that I have many more important things in life to concern myself with these days compared to how it was 8-10 years ago.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Dave Schwartz Battling Cancer
« on: August 01, 2016, 10:16:44 AM »
Heartbreaking news.  Dave was easily a favorite of mine. I watched him all the time back in the EEWC days, and even more so when he moved to days in 2006.

I'm grateful TWC brought him back so we got to enjoy more of his presentations for at least two years. He will be greatly missed by all.

I'm truly shocked to hear of Martin's passing. He will be greatly missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Pretty sure all of the show's themes are production music; we found Weekend Now's on videohelper.com.
