Local Forecast / Favorite (or Top 50 ) Local Forecast tunes
« on: May 27, 2008, 08:07:01 AM »
I did not see an thread open on this subject specifically, so here it is. These songs are what I think are the best songs, one from each year TWC has been in existence, well since 1985. This list is taken from songs active in my collection. This list was very tough to come up with since there are so many other songs not mentioned equally as good as the listing below:

1985 - Andreas Vollenweider - Moon Dance
1986 - Russ Freeman - Nocturnal Playground
1987 - Mannheim Steamroller - Rhinos and Elephants
1988 - David Arkenstone - Valley In The Clouds
1989 - Bob Thompson - Island Blue
1990 - David Benoit - Man With The Panama Hat
1991 - Amani A W Murray - The Everywhere Calypso
1992 - Peter Buffet - Jenny C
1993 - Patrick O' Hearn - Ancient Dreams
1994 - EKO - Midnight Picnic
1995 - Network Music - Junkyard Funk
1996 - Trammell Starks - Good Times (Track 12, on CD 1)
1997 - Jean Luc Ponty - Spring Episode
1998 - Andy Narell - We Kinda Music
1999 - Terry Coleman - Cool Breeze
2000 - Shahin & Sepehr - Florian's Cafe
2001 - Love Tractor - Rudolph Nureyev
2002 - Craig Chaquico - Innocent Kiss
2003 - Eddie Reasoner - Windy City Walk
2004 - C.C. Gilmore - The Passage
2005 - R.E.M. - Winged Mammal Theme
2006 - Mark Krurnowski - Climbing Green Hills
2007 - Kim Hansen - Talk To Me
2008 - Doug Markley - Forgiven (In Touch)

Local Forecast / Possible lead on Ronald Thornton Valentine
« on: May 24, 2008, 01:28:35 PM »
After endlessly searching, once again, on the Internet I found a CD that contains the two songs that may have been written by Ron Thornton Valentine. The two songs "Let Me Hold You" and "Moving In Your Direction" appear on a CD titled "soulmate" by artist Ron Paris. I dont know if its a pseudonym or if RTV wrote the melodies for both songs but the drawback is that both song have stupid a$$ annoying vocals in them  :furious: :censored:

The link can be found here http://www.amazon.com/soul-mate-ron-paris/dp/B000CABDCC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1211649726&sr=1-1

Ignore the tacky sounding vocals. the melodies might sound familiar

The Game Room / "Three for 3 for 3" LF music game
« on: May 11, 2008, 04:16:57 PM »
Given the catchy title "Three for 3 for 3" This game involves the solving of one question, in 3 parts. Each part, in turn, has 3 answers. Each answer, in turn has 3 additional parts, ( 36 total answers) Hence the catchy name. Without further ado. Here is the question

Aside from Holiday Music, There are three unique and separate situations in which TWC has used the same song title, or same artist:

1) Find the only song that was used by the same artist, with three different versions of the same song. Each answer has three parts: a- artist b-album c-when song aired on TWC Hint: This artist released more than 3 CDs

2) Find the only song that was covered by three different artists, with the same main melody. Some knowledge of Classic TWC music (from the late 80s) may be required for the full answer. Again each answer will have three parts : a-artist, b- album where the song is from, c-when used on TWC

3) Find the only song that has the same title that was written by Three different artists, but were not covers, and each song has a different melody. Hint: None of these songs are re-titled, and one of the CD's one of the versions is from has to be purchased from the artist himself (that is, not available from conventional outlets). Once again, each answer will have 3 parts: this time a- artist, b- CD the song is from, c - when used on TWC.

Good luck! Don't rattle your brains too much

I will post the answer if by Next Sunday no one gets the entire riddle

Local Forecast / Major Discovery
« on: April 03, 2008, 07:24:42 AM »
At least I d like to think its major discovery, if u consider recording songs such as The Passage and Cocoon their entirety. I found a link with the help of Gil to a production music site where u can listen to a bunch on TWC songs by CC Gilmore and Samuel Lincoln. Of course the songs are retitled, and the drawback is the site is foreign i think chinese. I dont speak chinese but I know how sites are laid out, at it works whenever it wants to (it messes up a lot :( ) . The songs are in cassette quality though ( lo -fi) unfortunately. but the songs I found and listened to are:

The Passage
Cocoon
Tempest Wind
Park Place
Nothern Lights
Twenty Three Skidoo
Above The Horizon
Into Your Soul
Under The Stars

The link ishttp://www.mib.net.cn  warning - the site acts up a lot so u might get errors and whatnot. But when the site works u can search frank josephs and the songs retitled from the manpower site will appear near the end of the search...pages 20-24. Figured I'd post this for anyone interested in going thru the hassle as i did. Though I havent searched them you guys can try other artists such as Steve Glotzer, Jeanne Ricks, Yvonne Ayers (Leon Ayers Jr) etc.

Local Forecast / Lead on Kathy Ball's music
« on: March 27, 2008, 08:49:12 PM »
I preformed a keyword search, and since kathy ball is sax it lead to a site by saxophonist Chris Ball, who has a CD called "Monterey" released  12/07, which happens to coincide with when the Kathy Ball tunes started appearing on TWC. unfortunately the samples on the CD sound like crap, but from what I heard the songs sound a lot like the Kathy Ball tunes. Another case of the spouse getting the listings (refer to Ursula Pacheco, Yvonne Ayers, et. al. One of the songs is "Window to the World" which resembles the TWC listing from 1/08. www.chrisballonline.com is the link
