Tonight on WCL, they are in the expert desk. They are avoiding HD Studio and the DMC Studio tonight. No Green screens are used.

Edit: Adam and Kelly at 11PM ET. They are back to using the HD Studio and Green Screen.

Also, Al Roker was live at 10AM ET. He did some live radar segments and read some tornado warnings. This is the first time he is live at this time.

Anyway, TWC is doing a good job covering this storm.

If I'm missing someone, post in this thread. I apologize if I misspelled someone's name

Sounds like a spinoff of truTV's Ocean Force. Nothing new.

A lot of these shows seem like stuff that should be on truTV or Discovery. :itsok:

The only plausible one is "Hurricane Hunters"

I agree! This shows should not belong on TWC and should be on other networks.

Has this been happening frequently? I'm seeing Paul Goodloe, Chris Warren, Crystal Egger, Adam Berg, and Kim Cunningham ALL IN ONE SHOW. This is the first time I'm seeing 5 OCMs in one show with no experts.

Yes, it's been happening for a few months. One OCM does the Social segment, One OCM does Digital Media Center segment, one OCM does weather news and 2 OCMs do the Radar and forecasts.

Paul Goodloe sometimes does the "Social" and "Weather Headlines" during WCL. He also sometimes host WCL during the weekends and he sometimes fills in for Chris or Crystal. He is not freelancer.

Also, to respond to some of you, I can't imagine that TWC will be developing a new STAR, considering they just released the IS2 a couple of years ago.  This "new platform" almost sounds like the squeezeback will be the new "LOT8s."  This does not explain what the fate will be of the IS2; can't believe they would ditch something like that so quickly, unless it's got to do with money.

And, unless TWC gains great profits from it, I don't think the playlist disappearing would matter to the company or the average viewer.  I know some might miss it, but I don't think that's their primary concern. ;)

I believe that the new STAR there developing would probably be used only on the SD channel to replace the aging Inteillistar. I don't think the squeezeback will replace the LOT8s and will probably be used in Long-form programs.

I got this email from my cable provider this past September when I inquired about the squeezeback.

Thanks for writing to Shentel. I did not have immediate answers to your questions, so I had to go investigate. Here is what I have found out.

You are correct. About three weeks ago, the Weather Channel changed the Star Platform to only show local on the 8s at :28 and :58 past the hour. We will not be upgrading to Intellistar because TWC has announced an entirely new platform that is supposed to be even better and they have run out of Intellistars. So we have to make do until the new option is ready which our engineering guy said it would be mid-1012.

I'm guessing all intellistars will be upgraded to the new platform and all remaining headends will upgrade to the intellistar.  I hope they retire the legacy stars.  I just can't see TWC using 5 different Star platforms out in the field.    I just remembered about the email or i would have posted it back in Sept.  :)

Finally! The Intellistar's graphics are outdated and I am glad that they will upgrade there Stars to look modernized and not outdated.

Looks like the Dark Blue Titlebar that debuted in May 2011 is discontinued and replaced by white tilebars that debuted a short while ago. The blue titlebars were only used for Radar until earlier this week. I think, in my opinion, the newer white tilebars are better than the old ones.

I've noticed they have added a new line to the end of OCM's show intro,
"Live form The Weather Channel Headquarters in Atlanta, this is Day Planner.

There been doing that since mid last year.

According to Carl Parker, TWC will be live all night long into the morning hours.

I noticed that on the Station ID, it still says "Copyright 2011" when it is 2012 now.
