Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

I doubt NBC created the Torcon index. It sounds like something Dr. Forbes would create to aid his reports and forecasts.

I never understood the Tor-Con scale. It seems like TWC has a knack for making fictitious scales (Golf index etc.). What registers a 10 on the Tor-Con and why does it make no sense to say "this area has a high chance of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes developing tonight"?

I wish the ratings for the NBC/Universal networks (maybe except the USA network) would follow the trend of NBC: falling rapidly with little hope of recovery.

I just love how whenever TWC does talk about the oil spill, they used as much red as they can. I wonder what graphics they'll use when a major hurricane is about to make landfall. Probably the same amount of red, but I won't be surprised if they go all out with strobe lights, swirling graphics, and big lowed 3rd's that clutter most of the screen.

I wasn't sure how relevant to weather the oil spill is, but I wasn't surprised to see TWC cover the oil spill nearly every segment. I do think it is an environmental disaster that needs attention, but TWC needs to focus on the weather more often.

As far as game 6, I'll be watching it, though it does not start until 9:00.

HEY, TWC, YOU ARE NOW A  :censored: ING WASTELAND NOW! YOU ARE NOT WORTH WATCHING. YOU SANK TO A NEW LOW. YOU COPY ALL OF THE OTHER NETWORKS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT A SINGLE IOTA OF ORIGINALITY AND YOU LOST FOCUS OF ALL THAT WAS GOOD ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE THE WEATHER CHANNEL. GET OUT MY CABLE LINE-UP OR DISCUSS THE WEATHER. IF I SEE YOU CONTINUING INCESSANT COVERAGE OF SOMETHING THAT YOU, BY DEFINITION, SHOULD NOT BE COVERING, I WILL ENGRAVE BRONZE BUSTS OF MARSHALL SEESE AND DAVE SCHWARTZ, TWO MEN THAT MADE TWC NOT SUCK.

My local IntelliSTAR (ID either 26679 or 26779) has been missing in action. I see a national LDL and I'm seeing the satellite LF. The STAR went down sometime midweek last week. I'm sorry I can't tell a more precise time. Thank you in advance.

The networks are canning several shows I enjoyed, but they're sticking with some of the worst  :censored: I've seen. NBC must be desperate because they're keeping the mid-season rookies "Minute to Win It", "The Celebrity Apprentice", and "Who Do You Think You Are". Some of the most unfunny comedy shows (The Cleveland Show, Community, The Marriage Ref, Two and a Half Men) stuck around, surprisingly.

I know only one fan of the Cleveland Show, and he is a 28-year-old manchild living in Ruckersville, Virginia.

Have they been playing songs like "Alejandro" lately on WUWA?

I've seen some pics of the FiOS program guide. I nearly drooled. It rendered my guide obsolete. I wish the Comcast HD guide would look like it.

Curt's guide looks like mine, except mine is blue instead of "onyx". I would like an upgrade soon, though. It's been roughly five years and my cable program guide upgrades nearly every five years. I have an HD receiver for one TV, and it looks the same.

I'm lucky to have the current ad-free program guide with On Demand from Comcast. It has a blue color scheme, unless you change it from the Setup menu.

Everything Else TWC / Re: New Graphics and Icons

Though I thought the bigger LDL bar distracts from the on-air presentation, I think it's a very good upgrade. I still wasn't used to the 2006-2010 icons. I'm surprised they had new icons this early. I like the current icons much better.

General Weather Chat / Re: California Pacific Storm Parade
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:42:40 AM »
This storm packs quite a punch. There were occasional 50 mph wind gusts and I might have accumulated 2 inches of rain since Sunday. The worst will come tomorrow. It is predicted to rain heavier and blow stronger winds. I'm surprised the storm didn't make my power didn't go off yet. I thought it did for a few minutes, but it was just a power surge in my home.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Who here gets TWC HD?
« on: December 31, 2009, 02:56:01 AM »
Comcast added a dozen HD channels recently to my line-up, and TWC is one of them. I'm glad to see TWC HD.

General Weather Chat / Re: Winter of 2009-2010 Forecasts
« on: November 22, 2009, 03:05:18 AM »
I expected AccuWeather to predict a rainy winter for California. Worst case scenario: the storm that slammed my region last month might be a practice drill for what to expect this winter. Best case scenario: Few severe rainstorms for California.

It's Alberto and Ernesto all over again, but NOTHING compares to TWC's coverage of that hot air balloon hoax a month ago.
