General Discussion / Changes to the WC Wikipedia page?
« on: April 23, 2010, 11:08:33 PM »
I find the disambiguation for "Weather Center" quite irritating, so I have an idea to streamline the experience.

Change 1 — Request deletion of disambiguation page.
Change 2 — Move "Weather Center (2009)" to "Weather Center."
Change 3 — Add in the top of the new WC page: "Weather Center redirects here. For the original Weather Center (so on...)"

I think this covers everything. If you have any questions, please reply and ask. Hopefully, I'll have an answer. ;)

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Opinion: Jonathan's user badges

Hey there! I'd like your opinion to finalize the way my user badges will look. It would be preferred if you would choose either option; however, there are two additional "on the fence" options above.

Here are the samples:

Option A

Option B

General Discussion / Severe Weather Tweet Creator
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:58:46 PM »
Hey! I created a little program I thought some of us could find useful...a Severe Weather Tweet Creator. It's a simple program that lets you fill in what warning type it is, what time it expires, and what county it's in effect for. Then you hit "Tweet it!" and it will combine all the info into a small sentence. Then, just copy and paste into Twitter.

Of course, this is the first time I've released this, so it is in beta. If you have ANY issues, please reply here to tell me. If you want the source code so you can make a program like this, I would be more than happy to hand it over. It's a mere 35 lines and is in Visual Basic 2008. Enjoy!

NOTE: This version is outdated. Do not download this version. It is kept strictly for historical purposes and will be removed October 31, 2009.

General Discussion / Bad restaurant conversions
« on: August 09, 2009, 02:00:17 PM »
Please post any and all bad restaurant to whatever conversions here.

To get us started, us here in Podunkville had an A&W that was converted to a Mexican restaurant (Viva Tequila :drunk:, it was goooood) and now it is a car dealership. Good thing it's still a drive-in. >_>

So, any bad conversions in your area?

Emulator Videos / Jonathan's emulations
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:18:06 PM »
Well, guess I'll hop onto the bandwagon in a few days as I'm waiting on my new monitor. I'm going to do 4000 emulators and when my key error is fixed up on the XL emulator, I'll do both.

So expect some actual substance here later this week!

General Discussion / Help please???
« on: June 08, 2009, 05:23:28 PM »
Hey all. I'm having a bunch of trouble with my computer.

First of all, I have my Sony Vegas 9 problem. I downloaded the free trial and installed as I should. Then I try to open it. The splash does fine until I get to "Initializing UI", then the splash will freeze. Any help on that?

Next, my Dell fan is acting up. We cleaned it out with Q-Tips 2 Saturdays ago. It did great up until now. We tried to figure out how to open it, but the back is riveted onto the sides and we don't have anything to undo any rivets. Then again, the problem could be that it's 83° in here. Our house gets hot in the summer.

Your Local Weather / West Plains, MO (aka Podunkville) Weather
« on: June 08, 2009, 01:07:31 PM »
I guess I'll hop on the wagon. I'm going to write this in my own words as if I were going to say it on camera. So, I'll do a little forecast along with the conditions.

It's 78 and sunny right now, but don't expect that to last through the day. Moisture is coming in from the Gulf and there's a cold front hanging over the Ozarks this week. Because of that, we have plenty of lift to get those thunderstorms going. In fact, there's a slight risk for severe storms today, so watch out!

I'm a bad writer. <_<

Help and Support / Key error
« on: May 03, 2009, 02:39:58 PM »
I'm not sure if I missed something here...

- I reinstalled the emulator
- I extracted the March 09 zip into C:\wsxl
- I set my affiliate
- it says my key has expired
- "Get My Key"
- copy and paste w/ name 7oa
- "The name/key you have entered does not appear to be valid. Please try again."

I have no idea what's going on. Do I need a new key? I left the emulator alone for ~1-1/2 months, if that's the problem. :dunno:

And don't bite if I missed something. <_< I saw a different thread on this, but it gave me NO info I could really understand. :dunno: :dunno:

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / About width...
« on: March 28, 2009, 05:40:52 PM »
I know the pages are wider than they used to be...but I'm still not liking the width. I was wondering with the new design, can we create a page that has 100% width and not a set amount of pixels?

Right now, it looks like the pages are 708 pixels wide...which gives a 46 pixel border to users with 800x600 resolution. However, almost no one uses 800x600 anymore. In January 2006, the number was 20% of users using 800x600. In January 2007, the number shrank to 14%. One year later, in 2008, it went down to 8% and is now around 3% to 4%.

What I'm saying here is that resolutions are continually rising, and to keep up we should do a 100% width...so it can work with someone who uses 400x300 resolution (ouch!) or 1920x1080. IMHO, it'd be the best for the new design.

Post your brackets here if you wish. Right now I'm rooting for Mizzou but I don't think they'll get to the top. I'm gonna make a graphic soon.

General Discussion / The new iPod shuffle ... ?!
« on: March 12, 2009, 06:41:33 PM »
Very recently Apple introduced the new iPod shuffle. Take a peek here.

I personally don't like it because of its size. Where's the pause button? What's up with the bare area on the front and all sorts of things on the back? If there's that much space, shouldn't they put an Apple logo on the front?! Maybe I'm just used to the thumbpad-sized version of the shuffle. Any other thoughts?

I'm starting this a bit late, but I want to see where you think a storm might be dropping a tornado, etc in this event. I've attached my forecast on a storm near Harper, KS.
