OCMs & Personalities / Jeanetta Jones
« on: August 17, 2021, 11:15:36 AM »
Very sad news - former OCM Jeanetta Jones - who left TWC in late 2006 after suffering a brain injury in a car accident - has passed away from COVID-19, according to social media posts: https://twitter.com/jameysingleton/status/1427457322557845504

She was one of my favorite OCMs back when I first started watching TWC. Rest in peace, Jeanetta. :(

Hurricane Central / Hurricane Laura
« on: August 26, 2020, 03:31:02 PM »
Hurricane Laura has rapidly intensified into a monster Category 4 storm with 140 MPH winds, and is taking aim at the eastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts.

The NHC key messages for this storm says it all:

I hope that all who are in the projected path for this storm have evacuated and will be safe. This no doubt is going to be a historic and horrific event, unfortunately. :(

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IntelliStar 2 down
« on: July 20, 2011, 06:21:30 PM »
Hey STAR team,

The IS 2 in my area appears to be down. For the last few days on the HD TWC feed we've been seeing the Satellite LF and LDL. This problem seems to have started this past weekend; it was down on Sunday, it was working again on Monday, and it's been down again since yesterday. If you guys could look into this and fix this issue it would be greatly appreciated! B)

General Discussion / YouTube crashing Firefox
« on: November 30, 2008, 08:17:11 PM »
Recently, I've noticed that after a while of browsing YouTube in Firefox (version 3.0.4, Windows Vista), Firefox acts really unstable, and most often it crashes. I CAN get to YouTube no problem; but after a few minutes or so Firefox decides to crash. <_< I Google'd this issue, and it seems this has been an issue for other people recently, and apparently its cause is the new 16:9 YouTube player (it probably is seeing as I've never experienced this problem before). Anyone else having these issues with YT?

Emulator Videos / Stephen's Emulator Clips
« on: November 08, 2008, 01:59:42 PM »
I'll start off this thread with an WeatherScan XL emulator clip.

Notes:
- The quality isn't very good; I will try to look for a better video codec for recording. Also you can see my desktop wallpaper - this will be corrected as well.
- The extended forecast and boating forecast are set to Orlando as the emulator has problems reading my forecast because NWS writes them differently for my area.
- The Sea Surface maps are not correct for my area.
- Text on the traffic incidents screen is cut off.
- The Cox logo appears on most screens and the Comcast appears on others. The Comcast logo is embedded on those screens - not sure when this will be changed.

Anyways, enjoy! B) Songs featured are "Jumpin'" and "Good Times" by Trammell Starks.

General Discussion / Network troubles with Vista
« on: April 03, 2008, 09:05:56 PM »
When I try to access a shared folder (other than my Public folder) that's shared on my Vista machine on another machine, I get this error:

I've never had this error before, and I haven't made any network changes that I am aware of that would cause this error. I can access my Public folder just fine, I just can't seem to connect to any other file share. Any ideas?

General Discussion / Deleting "mlJCTkIX.dll"
« on: April 03, 2008, 07:26:25 PM »
My virus scan program on my XP computer (McAffee) detected a trojan horse called "Vundo", and the file that is infected is C:/Windows/system32/mlJCTkIX.dll. McAffee cannot repair or quarintine this file, and I tried to delete it, but it doesn't delete it, because I get the same message about the same trojan after I "delete" it. I tried booting up to a command prompt and deleting it using the "del" command, but it says it's in use by a program. I looked up Google, and no results were returned for this DLL file. :hmm: Anyone know how I can delete this file? Thanks in advance. B)

General Discussion / Cool New GMail Feature!
« on: April 01, 2008, 11:25:37 AM »
http://mail.google.com/mail/help/customtime/index.html

Basically, for GMail users, this will allow you to send email as far back in time as you want (well, up until April 1, 2004, when Gmail started).

Pretty sweet, isn't it? B) Well, check it out! :)

TWC Today News / Daylight Savings Time Now in Effect
« on: March 09, 2008, 10:49:10 AM »
As you may be aware of, DST took effect last night. With this change, it is necessary to set your clock offset in your user profile in order to see the correct time on the board. To do this...

Go to Profile -> Modify Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Time Offset

Change the time offset number so that the board time will equal your local time. If you're not sure, hit the "auto detect" link. Save the settings, and the board time should now display correctly. :)

General Discussion / How to boot off of other HD partition?
« on: February 29, 2008, 10:52:09 PM »
So, on my desktop XP machine, the operating system decided to curl up and die on me, as when I tried to load it up this morning, it came up with an NT loader not found, press Ctrl alt delete or something like that. Well, I did that, and I still got the same message. After that, I decided to do a little experimenting, and I tried to load Vista on it (seeing as it was compatible, but barely). It loaded. However, Vista on this machine does not work as well as I had intended, so I need to load it off of it. I did leave the recovery partition on the drive when I installed Vista. So, I restarted the computer, and pressed F10 to boot off the other partition. However, it's giving me this garbage:

Quote
Edit Boot Options

Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Partition: 2
Hard Disk: bce1bce1

[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN   ]

ENTER=Submit  ESC=Cancel

I press enter, and that just boots me into the OS partition. So, I'm not exactly sure how to proceed from here. :ermm: Anybody have any ideas? It will be very much appreciated. B)

TWC Fan Art / Stephen's Art
« on: February 24, 2008, 12:14:50 AM »
This is the thread where I'll post all my TWC related artwork. :)

First off, an IntelliSTAR v2 emulation. :D

Video:

The background is courtesy of Billy, and the jogger on the OAF screen is from a stock video from artbeats.com. There is no radar as I haven't made a slide for that yet. The animations are sluggish because it's a PowerPoint 2007 presentation, and I recorded it with CamStudio, which slows down the animations. Nothing I can fix, unfortunately, but this is better than nothing. ;)

Some of the data is fake (more specifically, the record temperature screens), but most of it is real.

Song featured: "Good Times" by Trammell Starks. Enjoy! B)

General Discussion / Cannot Export a Windows Movie Maker video
« on: February 10, 2008, 01:18:43 AM »
I'm trying to export a video in Windows Movie Maker, but apparently, it doesn't want me to.

I get this error when I try to export:

I checked, and there is NOTHING wrong with the video. All the sources of the video clips are still there, and the folder where I'm trying to save to still exists. And I have plenty of HD space free (60 GB), so that's not the problem, either. I am baffled as to how this error is occurring, since there is apparently nothing wrong with the video.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks in advance. B)
