“Many of you have told us that you want to see more of our trusted weather coverage and we've taken note. Starting tomorrow, we will be extending our live coverage by up to 10 minutes per hour, giving you a chance to dig even deeper into the weather affecting you each day!

In order to give you more screen time with your favorite meteorologists from The Weather Channel, we figured out a way to collapse some of our Local on the 8s so that they run during our live segments. Where you used to see our traditional Local on the 8s segments, you will start to see the same weather information displayed along the right side and/or bottom of your screen.

We hope you love the changes and we look forward to hearing your feedback! Many of you have been loyal fans for over 35 years and we are excited to continue to evolve along with you to create an even better weather experience!”

Everything Else TWC / David Clark heading to Comcast
« on: June 19, 2017, 10:10:24 AM »
From AdWeek:

David Clark, who has been president of The Weather Channel for nearly 5 years, is leaving the network and joining Comcast, which is one of the owners of the TV network.

Clark joined Weather in 2012 from MSG where he was EVP of sales and partnership development.

For Comcast Clark will be Executive Vice President and General Manager of Advanced Advertising.

“David is a dynamic and innovative leader with broad experience in television, advertising and digital media,
making him uniquely suited for this new position,” said Marcien Jenckes, President of Advertising. “The advanced advertising industry is evolving rapidly and David will play a critical role in helping our advertising customers maximize the value of inventory and audiences reach with technology across all screens and sales channels.”

In 2015, IBM acquired The Weather Company’s digital assets including, mobile and cloud-based web properties, Weather Underground and WSI. The TV network was not part of the deal and remains owned by Comcast, Bain Capital, and Blackstone.

At the time of the split, David Kenny, CEO of the Weather Company joined IBM and Clark remained president of The Weather Channel. No word on who will be replacing Clark at the TV network.

Everything Else TWC / Archived "Live By It" files
« on: January 15, 2017, 07:34:14 PM »
Hi friends,

It's been a while since I've been around here; a lot has changed in the intervening years! I'm not sure who from the old guard is still around, but I'm hoping someone may be able to help me out. I'm missing a few of the packages from the 03-05 "Live By It" music elements we assembled years ago, and was wondering if anyone still had copies...just looking to round out the old setlist. Many thanks.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Bozeman, Montana Intellistar still M.I.A.
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:52:49 PM »
Hello STAR team. I would like to inform you that the Bozeman, Montana IntelliStar used by Optimum cable (I do not remember the ID, but I believe it began as 229**) is still missing in action. I have not seen a local forecast since late last week-Thursday or Friday, if I recall. Instead, I simply see the national LDL and standard definition satellite local forecast. Any thoughts on what is going on?  :dunno:

For the past few months, the narration on STAR 22581 here in Buffalo has occasionally been choppy or frozen altogether. It usually happens during the extended forecast descriptions, although it does not appear that the STAR itself is freezing, just the narration. I've noticed an increase of Local Forecasts with this issue as of late. Any idea what is going on?

Everything Else TWC / New TWC Media Kit Website

I suspected as much when I couldn't access the site the other day, but the media kit website has been fully redesigned.

Everything Else TWC / New slogan for The Weather Channel?
« on: May 07, 2009, 12:17:43 AM »
I was sneaking around the website today and found this link:
Watch the video. Besides making you possibly gag as we watch the well formatted early morning programming (6-7am) go up in smoke, also notice towards the end the narrator says "...another reason why WE OWN THE WEATHER" If they choose that as a new slogan, seeing as we have no "official" one in use currently, I may just give up on TWC totally. Thoughts?

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Chat Feature?
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:55:46 PM »
I was just thinking that it would be kinda cool to implement a sort of chat feature into the site, kinda like Facebook. I don't know if that's possible, just wanted to throw the idea out there!  B)

Everything Else TWC / The September 2003 Relaunch
« on: March 15, 2009, 10:07:16 PM »
Ok, I know a fair amount about TWC's Sept. 2003 Relaunch. I know that a few new shows debuted, and they upgraded each shows graphics, started using Stephen Arnold's music for the show opners, and changed the map title bars. Were there any other major changes? I only occasionally watched TWC back thing I did notice was that their presentation of the weather seemed much more...relaxed(casual?) I guess is the word. Anyone else have any more info?
