WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Topeka, KS SD Radar
« on: June 11, 2014, 10:23:54 AM »
On the summary screen (Standard Definition only) Topeka is way off to the left portion of the little radar screen. It's almost centered on Kansas City. Nothing to the west coming in to Topeka can be seen on that screen. Can you please fix this and move the map over so people in Topeka can actually be centered again? Again, it's only on the summary screen, not the actual main radar screen. Thank you!

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Topeka, KS - IS2 issues
« on: October 20, 2012, 05:26:31 PM »
My intellistar 2 has been having some issues with the LDL as of recently. Sometimes, the information on the local ldl displays but the background doesn't show...so it's a lot clustered because you can see through to the national information. We also have the occasional green screen issue and it has been freezing sometimes too.

Thanks.

We get the same issues on our IS2 here in Topeka, KS as well.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / General IS2 Discussion
« on: May 27, 2012, 08:21:42 AM »
Pretty sure we're past the beta phase, so starting a general IS2 thread.

Is anyone else only getting the national LDL since they switched it to red and started showing the Beryl bug?

General Discussion / Weather Graphics Products

Thought this was an interesting read from TVNewsCheck on what different companies will be presenting this year.

"Vendors of the competitive and fast changing weather graphics market will be out in force next month at the NAB Show. In many cases, the new products and features they will be promoting were developed in direct response to customer, and even audience, research."

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IS2 Outage
« on: December 18, 2011, 10:05:15 PM »
The IS2 for Topeka, KS on Cox Cable has been completely out since early Saturday afternoon.

Edit: Tried deleting this post but it wouldn't let me. Our IS2 is back up at 12:28am Monday.

Edit 2: As of 7am Monday morning it is not on at all again.

Edit 3: As of 12:20am Tuesday morning our IS2 is back up and running and is still up at 9am. Got a frozen picture for almost a minute then at 12:28am it cued as normal.

Weatherscan Discussion / Alert scrolls
« on: September 29, 2011, 05:37:12 PM »
I don't understand why almost every alert scrolls on TWC with the IS & IS2, yet on Weatherscan... a channel dedicated to 24/7 local weather information does not scroll most of these alerts. We're in a Red Flag Warning & an Extreme Fire Danger message was issued. On TWC HD they're scrolling a Fire Weather Risk in orange, yet neither shows up on Weatherscan. There are other alerts that do not scroll on Weatherscan. I don't get it... <_<

EDIT: It doesn't even show the red alert page for these.

General Discussion / Radar RSS Feed
« on: August 16, 2011, 11:52:57 AM »
I've been searching and searching. Does anyone know of a website that provides an RSS feed with the current radar, even nationally? I know weather.com has an RSS feed that will give you a link to the webpage for a radar. I'm looking for something similar to the RSS feeds the SPC & NHC use that will actually embed the picture of the radar with the RSS feed.

I just started using a gadget for Win7 that is called Visual News (have to pay for it) that displays any images embedded in an RSS feed with a scroll at the bottom of it with the text that goes with it. I can't find any sites that provide a radar with the RSS feed. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Weatherscan Discussion / Ticker
« on: June 25, 2011, 12:18:49 AM »
Is anyone else having problems with the ticker? Ours shows Tonight all day long, then switches to the current days forecast in the evening, followed by tomorrows forecast. At midnight it switches to Tonight but shows the following nights forecast. Then switches to the next days forecast in the morning. It's all jacked up on ours lately.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Topeka problems again
« on: June 15, 2011, 09:27:47 PM »
Some products like Estimated Precipitation on Weatherscan are showing temporarily unavailable and on the bottom ticker it's not updating everything. Our local cities are showing Thursday's forecast now while the regional cities on the ticker are still showing Wednesday's forecast. Our IS2 is flipping out and green screening, tiling the broadcast feed of TWC and dropping audio, along with blinking severly at times. Last time it did this was at 6pm until about 6:15pm CT. Before that the last time I noticed was at midnight Tuesday night. Weatherscan problem is ongoing. Haven't checked SD Intellistar. Can someone check this out please?

While I'm at it... I didn't want to start a discussion about this because it's not that big of deal but on the IS2 can Carbondale be removed from the 4-city forecast screen and replaced with somewhere like Emporia? Carbondale is 10 minutes away on another cable system in a different county and it's a town you'll drive through in 10 minutes or less plus it's already on multiple other screens. If not, or even so, can you move that city into a west-east alignment? (I think this should be done on all IS2's to make that forecast screen easier to read.) Hope it's not too much to ask. :/ Thank you!

Edit: Estimated Precipitation is back up now. Ticker still showing forecast for Wed at 10:46pm on Wednesday night only for regional cities like Omaha, Wichita, etc.

Edit 2: At 6:00am both local and regional tickers were showing forecast for Tonight. At 8:40am still showing tonight. I can't tell if it's last nights forecast or it already switched over to Thursday nights forecast. I didn't think it switched over to Tonight until about 3pm?

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Weatherscan Jumping
« on: May 10, 2011, 08:14:13 PM »
Our weatherscan is jumping really bad in Topeka, KS on Cox cable. It's jumping like frames would be missing or the computer is running really slow. I just noticed it start doing that this evening. Can someone reboot it please? Cox rarely knows what I'm even talking about when I report things like this. Thanks.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IS2 failing
« on: March 20, 2011, 07:59:13 PM »
Our IS2 is continuously failing to cue for some reason. It's been happening for a couple weeks now. We get the local LDL, LOT8's, & the new "cornered LOT8's" during primetime then it won't cue back on for a half hour or hour. I see it every day at random times. Then it will cue right, or sometimes late, for a long time. Can someone take a look at the issue? Thanks!
