It's not unusual to see a Sam/Vivian pairing but it's very unusual to see Vivian working at night. I was thinking she has a clause in her contract that she needs to be out of there by 7pm each night. ;) Can't remember the last time I saw her working this late...then again, I don't watch much anymore, either.  :smoke2:

TWC's  :rofl2: Al Roker is on NBC's coverage of the US Open and he keeps saying how the rain is going to pick up within the next hour. The funny part is that the radar picture shows the rain continuously breaking up and decreasing in intensity as it moves towards the golf course. It's really obvious, yellow and reds rapidly decreasing to greens. But Al's "forecast" remains the same, for the rain to turn to heavier thunderstorms within the next hour. The funniest part is that Johnny Miller, NBC's lead golf analyst, just called him out on it and said he gave Roker "a bogey for that forecast" since he sees that all the yellows and reds are disappearing.

I know Roker doesn't have to do much meteorology at all, but you'd think he'd at least be able to read a radar loop?? It's really elementary.

Damn, that video must be from around 1990, but the graphics package is sooooo 1981.

I'm not watching TWC much these days but just randomly tuned in and...

a. Alexandra Steele looks SMOKING HOT tonight. I mean she always has been attractive but she looks drop dead gorgeous tonight. Damn.

b. I like this Todd Santos dude. He still seems a little nervous but he seems to show a little personality which is a good thing.

That is all.

I LOVE WEEKEND WEATHER CENT,ER! (That's what this show is called, right?) ;) This is awesome. Bill Kneeley rocks and he rocks late at night...not confined to fluffy day planner. He is smart, artlculate, personable, and insightful which is so appreciated and becoming rarer (I'm looking at you, Sam Mohr).
Do we know if Mike Seidel will join him every weekend? That's the only way this could better. Even if he doesn't I'll still be happy. Having an actual live broadcast later at night is so refreshing; especially since this is when I'd watch the most.

Thanks, these are great bios and a terrific upgrade! A couple of interesting tidbits...

Kim Perez: "I think people are most shocked when they hear I love heavy metal and that I went to Ozzfest with my siblings and nephew in 2005."

Dave Schwartz: "I volunteer time at a service that records and broadcasts programs for the blind and print-handicapped. I read the local paper live with another person or two which is broadcasted on a sub-FM channel that people with special receivers can listen to. I contribute money to organizations that fight for a just and peaceful world." What a rockstar!

Betty Davis: "People may be surprised to know that it really is all my hair, no extensions involved."

But you gotta admit...getting Election returns from Dave, Rich, Adam, and Sharon would be amazing.

ADAM:  This is one great Chooseday, Election Day!
DAVE:  That's right, my friends.  We're here for all the election returns!  Let's go to those results from Maine with Rich.
RICH:  Yeah, let's do that.  <insert results>.  How about down south with Sharon?
SHARON:  Yeah, let do so and go to Florida!

:rofl2: especially since i think its quite obvious john mccain got the idea to say "my friends" every 2 minutes from dave...

Throughout PM Edition today on SkyTracker, "Minneapolis" was showing up just south of Casper, Wyoming.  It wasn't just on one particular map, but on the radar and on winter weather advisory maps at different zoom levels. It was driving me crazy.

And when the map was zoomed out enough, you would see Minneapolis in both Minnesota and Wyoming.

Programming and Graphics / PM Edition, ugh
« on: September 24, 2008, 06:12:21 PM »
When will we finally see a new anchor pairing for PM Edition (weekdays)? Sam and Betty  have no chemistry, charisma, or real in-depth meteorological analysis. I rarely watch but caught a bit of it today....the fact that they have to bring in Steph Abrams to help with the tropical update (does this happen regularly?!?) is embarrassing not to mention just extremely awkward.

Obviously TWC feels the same way as these two were benched completely during both Storm Alerts and they aren't even trusted to do the tropical update without help. Apparantly PM Edition is one of their highest rated timeslots; I really can't imagine TWC is going to keep these two together in this spot much longer. Especially when the weekend PME team easily outclasses the more visible weekday PME team.

Who'd you like to see hosting? I could see Carl Parker/Kim Perez working well. Or Adam Berg, Mike Seidel, Kristin Dodd, Dave, Kristina Abernanthy..... Hopefully we'll see a shuffle with Alexandra leaving soon for maternity leave and the new schedule...

Ike is looking a little bit more organized the past few hours on the IR satellite loop. Will be interesting to see if the wind speeds pick up at all within the next 12 hours...

,,,it looks like Rich Johnson and Adam Berg Berg (according to the lower third) agree with me...

I don't think saying getting "raped"  by wind is all that bad. I found Dr. Lyon's use of "incestuous" over and over and over again last night slightly more disturbing...

What about Heather and Cheryl?

Yikes. Cheryl actually said "gullywashers" not once, but twice on Day Planner today. That about says it all.
