Your Local Weather / Re: South Florida Weather
« on: April 30, 2023, 07:11:02 PM »
Hello there. I'm here and back at it again. It seems like I've been only posting here every once in a while or so and it makes sense since these forums aren't as active as they used to be a very long time ago. However, I still want to provide an update right now as to what's been going on.

We got hit by plenty of rain and thunderstorms this morning as a cold front approached that'll now give us much drier air, but also still hot. Its more comfortable tonight into tomorrow but by Tuesday, its expected to get more humid again, and that's on top of the hot weather we're expecting all this week. All day, but all hot too.

No rain chances this week so its only best to mention the breezy days as Italicized.

I'm sorry to hear that its ending but I'm grateful for its existence and also thankful to contributors who made a Weatherscan emulator to keep the spirit of the channel alive once its long dead.

Hello! Its been a long while since I last posted anything on this forum. I know its not that well this forum now these days since we're all living busier lives but I hope to be back here from time to time.

While I'm at it, I apologize if this is in the wrong place to post, but I want to promote my own newsletter that focuses on the SiriusXM satellite radio service. I call it SeriousXM. I post a weekly newsletter focusing on the latest news, notes, and happenings inside the service.

Its hits inboxes every Friday morning by 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If you want to subscribe, you can do so for FREE at https://seriousxm.substack.com. I also offer donations at https://buymeacoffee.com/TheRolyPoly and that would be seriously appreciated. This is the first and ONLY newsletter dedicated to covering what's happening inside SiriusXM.

Their emails are terrible. They really don't tell you anything about what's happening outside of an email or two. Its just nothing but deals and promotions. Nothing related to programs or events coming up or new channels arriving or whatever. I take the time to do the research (sometimes more than 5+ hours a week) to compose this newsletter every week so YOU know what's going on. Check it out and let me know if you have any feedback. Send them my way via my Gmail and PM me for that email address.

Thanks in advance! I really do appreciate it.

Hi! Hello there. It has been a really long time since I last posted a weather update from here in South Florida. I just thought, during my birthday month, I come right back and post an update regarding the weather here in South Florida once again.

I may do this again in a future daily newsletter that I'm thinking of doing, but nothing's set in stone and concrete yet. I'm just taking a lot of ideas from watching old TWC/Weatherscan videos as to what to feature and what products to include in a straightforward, straight-to-the-point weather newsletter. If I do anything, I will let y'all know.

In the meantime, let me focus back on this forum and this thread. First off, we didn't get hit by Hurricane Ian. We had some effects, but the worst stayed away from mainland South Florida. The upper and middle Keys did feel it, but not so much here where I live. Thank god for that.

Ever since Ian left, our weather here has been beautiful, sunny, with clouds, but not rain, and some wind and humidity are way lower, making the weather outside feel so much more comfortable to step outside and enjoy the view.

The best chances of rainfall are mentioned below as Bold and Underlined with breezy days as Italicized.

The funny thing is, there is a TWC Wikia Fandom, but most of it is just random local news station, even though it should strictly be about the actual Weather Channel itself. Nevertheless, I used to edit there until it got messy.

Yeah and yours truly created that wiki. I stopped caring for it a while ago.

You can use the pages from my ex-active, yet somewhat still active, wiki site... The Weather Channel Wiki. I gave up on it but any TWC-related content you find, you can take it. No questions asked.

This is great!  I have actually been looking for more options lately and this works perfectly.   Is there an ability yet to be able to customize the scroll and still have warnings/watches come through?  Just curious.  Wish there was a Roku app like this, 'local now' is the only option that is not even close to this.  Guess I will be investing in a Fire TV Stick!

I second this to customize our own scrolls on it.

It has been a really long time since this topic has been posted. Three years as a matter of fact. I'm back in South Florida so this thread will be resurrected on a once-in-a-while basis, only because I'm working now.

Do I have to describe our weather lately? Not really. It's been hot every day, though we had a strong rainstorm on Thursday combined with some fierce winds that made part of the afternoon really ugly. Otherwise, temps really didn't change much and that is expected to continue over the next several days. And no... no chance of rainfall either expected as warm, dry weather will continue to be the norm heading into next week.

P.S. I'm glad to be back doing this.

Hello there. I too have a problem with the ZIP code as when I do type it, it doesn't say Hialeah Gardens, FL where I live. Also, it seems like it wants to take forever to load the content via mobile or iPad but I'm glad there's an option outside Fire TV to check it out since I only have a Roku.

I'm hopeful to see the project expand and eventually make it to Roku so I can have my own Weatherscan-like channel on my TV set.

I honestly doubt anyone even visits this site anymore, but here goes...

I was planning on forking & fixing up the Weatherscan HTML5 emulator, as well as editing the appearance to look more like the V1 Intellistar version instead of the V2 Intellistar version (I never really liked the LDL features everywhere-- I felt they crowded up the screen too much). However, I never really got to it (blame my procrastination & checking social media every 5 minutes for that).

These are mockups for said planned fixup. They are presented in the original 720x480 resolution used for the Intellistar. Some elements may appear stretched.

Weatherscan Intellistar V1 Current Conditions (normal screen):

Weatherscan Intellistar V1 Current Conditions (severe weather mode):

Made in Affinity Photo.

You should seriously consider working on a Weatherscan Emulator because I would seriously download it for personal use. This is freaking amazing! Takes me back to my childhood traveling years to the northeast.

Tonight is just proof that the rainy season and the tropical season is still around. Its been raining all day on this Labor Day and its because of outer bands from Tropical Storm Gordon that mainly affected South Florida but not here in North Central Florida.

The Weather Channel's rival has now launched with a podcast of its own... The AccuWeather Podcast.

The first episode talks to Elliot Abrams who's pretty much been at AccuWeather since 1967. The next one is on hurricane preparedness. It has begun recently.
