Local Forecast / Re: June 2012 Playlist

Been liking this playlist (only heard the morning part though) so far. As I have the national HD feed, I have no interruptions by LF reading. I'm surprised to hear Take On Me - a long-time fav of mine - on here. This instrumental version could be good for karaoke. Found a few new fav songs too. I wonder who does the music picking & what kind of criteria they have for picking the songs they pick to go in the various LFs.

Local Forecast / Recently switched to Verizon FiOS; liking TWC HD!
« on: April 10, 2011, 02:32:39 PM »
I find that even though the traditional local narrative TWC works wonders for getting current conditions & forecast quickly for where I live, the TWC HD channel we have is a very nice way to get most of the US' weather very quickly with the music playing without any voice-overs. this is where I wish they made the forecasts a minute or two longer. As I still have only an SDTV, the screen looks pretty cramped with all the forecast info on the screen when you have several cities displaying 5 days at once very quickly. I'm not sure if other subscription TV providers do it this way, but our TWC HD is what looks to be the national feed. The last time I saw the national feed (I believe 2007, except a few YouTube clips), the graphics looked similar to the Lot8s & shown all 4 contiguous US time zones time.

The music in quite nice. Does anyone here who is familiar with that music have any favourite tracks? Mine are Life, Evening, & Memories of the Past.

You couldn't wait a day for me to reply? :dunno:
I thought you weren't going to reply considering I posted multiple comments in a short period of time on the video's page, plus there is that little blurb you have on your channel that says something to the effect of not saying anything unless it's worth saying, and that you don't care what significance the videos may have to the viewers.

They are in this 3-track video:
Weather Channel Local Forecast 1991

The last track played in the clip I know is on here in one of the early listings but not the other 2, it seems.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself! (For New Members)

Hello all. I've always liked TWC & started watching it in 1990 (was that the 3000 or 4000 days?). There was a big gap in time when I didn't have access to the channel from about 1994 to late 2002, so it seems I missed several STAR updates. I never forget the music though. Perfect playlists with the forecast. The voice kinda screws it up for me but I understand it needs to be there. I miss the STARs that had the clock showing the full date with time down to the seconds. Seeing the load of videos on-line certainly brings nostalgia feelings. Thanks to some of the videos on YouTube I saw, I started buying the music I hear, now that I know who they are. I don't know the mets very well, though my favourite of the ones I see currently is S Abrams.
